I'm not sure if this is a Pappashop error or SiteSpinner. I published my project and it appears that it uploaded correctly, but when you go on my site it's all jumbled. www.polkadotparties.com. The background is supposed to be stripes and stuff and that will not display. Does anyone have any idea on why this could be happening? Thanks.

When I look at it, I get broken image placeholders where images should be which when I do right click/properties show what looks like a correct SS file reference.
e.g. http://www.polkadotparties.com...o3673shd113pg1p8.png It looks like the contents of the geometry folder haven't been uploaded to your server. Everything that SS creates when you publish, needs to be uploaded to your server(apart from the .ims file). Hope this helps G-u-l |

First of all, thanks for taking a look at my site. I am so new to this. How would I update the other parts of the website? Do you have any idea? I looked in the help topics and didn't see anything that was helpful.
Thanks! |

Hi Brandee
Don't worry about being new, we've all been there, so, happy to help. I would start with getting the publish process working correctly - so you can see what you've created, then work on getting it just how you'd like it. Are you publishing directly from SS to your website? or are you using an FTP program such as Filezilla? or some other way? As you've got some of the site uploaded then you have a valid connection to the server, just seems like some of it didn't make it all the way! Have a look at how you're connecting and lets take it from there. I assume it all looks ok in F8 preview in SS? Have you published to a local directory on your computer? Does it look ok there when you browse that? What I'm trying to get you to do is to start from the SS screen and working towards your server see where it breaks down, that'll be where the problem will be most likely. Also check the publish dialogue settinmgs for things like 'gather all files' - this will get your images and stuff from wherever they are on your computer into your site images folder. |

Gee, thanks. You are so helpful I appreciate it!!! I was trying to publish directly from SS to my site. I am not using any type of FTP program.
Yes, it looks perfect from F8. Have no idea how to publish to a local directory first, if so, where would I even publish it to? Would it look something like this: C:\Users\Brandee\Desktop\About Us.html? If so, that icon is on my desktop along with my other pages and when I click on them they do show up exactly how I want them to. Thanks again!!!! |

Since you are using SS Publisher let's just focus on that. Obviously you have a connection to the server, which means that the user name, password etc are correct. As Geek-u-like mentioned, your geometry folder seems to be missing. Just to make sure that's the case open SS Publisher go to 'FTP' tab and browse your server to see if it's there or not. If the folder is not there or if it's empty go to 'Pages' tab and make sure that under the 'Path Options' the 'Gather all files' is selected then republish your project to the server.

Okay, so is this elementary or what??? What exactly am I looking for when I browse to see if my server is there or not? I see tons of stuff but not sure what folder I am looking for. I do see Geometry though. Gather all files is selected.
Thanks again for your help. |

I browsed your link listed above and looked at the HTML page generated by SiteSpinner. What I see is not very encouraging. Your page is incomplete. It is missing quite a lot of code. (I tried it several times over a 10 minute period to make sure I was not catching it while you were republishing).
Are you getting any errors displayed in the publishing status window? No, do not publish to ./cpanel - your root directory is normally just / or /public_html depending upon how your host has set up their systems. If you use the Publisher->FTP tab's Brose button, without specifying a remote directory, it should default to what the server provides. |

I downloaded the SS program and created my own design. The background should have different colored stripes in the back and them a polka dot image around my company name, which is not event the same font as shown while in SS under F8. There is a big disconnect on what I created and what the site actually looks like when published. I don't get any erros when I publish the site. Do you think maybe it's because I don't have the colors listed like the one on your lowtechgeezer site? How can I coy and paste what my F8 screen shows me so that it can be displayed here???

Am I the only one seeing a partially published index.html page?
Who is your hosting company? If you have not changed the default publishing settings, there should be a backup project .ims file on your site. What name did you give your project file when you saved it? Someone here can download it and look to see if there is anything there that may be causing this problem. |

My hosting company is Pappashop. I named my project PDP. Does that help?
Thanks! |

No Larry, you are not the only one seeing a partially published index.html page. I wasn't able to download the .ims file either. Can you check that the PDP.ims file is uploaded to your server?

To confirm what Larryd suspected, as you're using a cpanel server your publish directory should be public_html This is the bit where you as a visitor will be looking when you go to your site. If you put content above this directory then it will never get seen and more importantly, can't be accessed because of the way that web servers work. Any content placed in public_html or below, eg public_html/images/ of course can be seen. Just to further clarify, when a visitor requests a page from your site e.g. index.html the server provides the page from its folder called public_html, the clue is in the name, you the visitor don't know - or care about this, nor do you ever know the folder name (on the server) that the file came from. I hope this clarification helps. |

I could not download the IMS project file either. When you publish, make sure the "Auto Backup Project File When Publishing" option on the Profile tab is checked. If it is already active, then you are not publishing to the correct directory of your site (which would also explain the missing images).

As Larry has already noted, something has chopped off the beginning and end of your page. All you have left is something from the middle. So it's a surprise that we can see as much of it as we do!
That same something may be responsible for chopping a lot of files out of your geometry folder, and perhaps the .ims project file. The size of the your index.html on your site is 21K. What size is the file in your local publish folder? (Location specified in Publisher > Pages tab.) If you double-click that file, do you see your full page? I suspect you will. If so, the next step will be to republish the page, and capture the publish details from your export progress window, and post them here. To do that, right click the window, Select All then copy and paste. That will tell us if SiteSpinner thinks it is uploading all the files. If so, the problem will be external to SiteSpinner, maybe a firewall or something happening at your host. |

Just wondering if the OP used the SS FTP to upload, or another FTP package? It can be very easy to 'cut' some files when using an external FTP, as I have discovered(!)to my cost, LOL!
It might be worth checking the file sizes of uploaded files to those on the hard drive. mccifa |
