We have purchased a couple of licenses of Site Spinner Pro. I am the only one who has used it so far. We would like to purchase one more license but before we do that, we need to know how and if two or more people can update the same site. In order to do this, each of us needs to be able to download the most recent version of the site to our individual PCs so we are current before posting anything we have that is new. Otherwise, one of us could make a post and blow away what someone else uploaded. REASON: Sometimes it is easier for one of us to make a post than send it to someone else. Plus it may become too much for one person to handle. And if they are on vacation...
You get the point. Any help for this? Thanks. |

It is possible to share a project file(and all external files such as images) with others, but as you state, only one person can update the site at any one time.
Roma and I have successfully shared a few project using Microsoft's Groove and LiveSync. Both systems have worked, but I recommend you look into LiveSync instead of Groove. (Groove is bundled with Office, but is not available in all versions of Word. Also, Groove is out-dated and I think it will be replaced with a product called Sharepoint sometime in October. And Groove does not work on 64-bit systems.) LiveSync will allow you to create a shared folder and invite others to access this folder. Visit http://www.foldershare.com/ Basically, one of you will create a Live Sync account and "connect" it to your local project folder. LiveSync will scan the local folder and create a list of the files there and will start tracking and changes. When you invite people to your folder, they can (via their LiveSync login account), access your folder which will automatically be sync'ed with their local folder. I probably haven't explain this very well, but is really is a good way for multiple people to share a project. The best way Roma and I have found to use LiveSync is by connecting it through Microsoft's OneNote program, which is another Office add-on product. OneNote allows you to share more than files; you can share notes and other files that are not connected with the project. It is like an organized bulleting board system. |

By the way, one license allows you to install the program on two computers, so you may not need as many licenses as you think.

I have a feeling that one license covers only one person with two computers, say a desktop and a laptop, or home and work. Another person on a different computer would need another license. My take on it.

Yes Bruce, thinking about it, you could be right.
