Now I have discovered that since acquiring my new laptop with Vista, when I publish any changes on a page, it is not saving or publishing those changes. Any thoughts?

I am not on Vista but I remembered that I read this post here a while ago, maybe it helps. BTW do you get any error messages?

Unfortunatley, that did not work. Thanks for the suggestion. Anyone else have any ideas? Is this a lost cause?

Have you tried uninstalling SS and then re-installing it? Do not re-install over an existing version as there may be registry items that need to be removed to resolve your problem.

Are you checking in the correct directory for your publish files? This should be the same directory as reported in the Export Progress Window.

I'm having the exact same problem. No error message. I've checked the directory it's going into the right place. I have no clue what to do next.

Does the Export Progress window show the files being transferred? And at the end does it say that all was successful?

Another test you could try: write some other file to your publish folder -- does that write successfully?

Hi Bruceee,
Thanks for the response. I'm not sure about Blarmour, but I've tried both of your suggestions and still no luck. I've also un-installed and re-installed sitespinner. No luck either.

If you can't write anything to your publish folder, even without using SiteSpinner, then it is a Windows problem -- for some reason, it is not letting you write to that folder.

If you are using the basic structures defined when you installed SS, then you should be publishing to C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\My IMS Projects\<some place here>. If, as a non-administrator, you can go to that directory and create a new folder then you have write permission and SS should have no problems publishing. When I publish I see something like this:

This should tell you where your published files are going and if there have been any problems.

I am running Vista Ultimate (and have been since the release candidate days) and have no problems publishing to my local drive or my host site.

Also, have you tried running SS in compatibility mode for XPSP2?

Does that mean that nothing at all is actually transferred? Can you copy anything at all to that folder -- without using SiteSpinnner Pro?

Also try using a simple publish folder name -- in case you have something strange in the path that is confusing things.

No, nothing at all will transfer and save. My pages (folders) are titled: index1, staff1, services1, links1, pictures1, staffnews1, calendar1, map&directions1, employment1, application1, staffforms1, inspiration.
Nothing too complicated to confuse things. I have been having to go to the co-worker who now has my old computer with XP on it when he is not in the office to make my updates to publish. Not very convenient...

Can you save anything in the folder where SS is exporting? Go into the folder and create a dummy text file. I would think that if SS couldn't write to the folder, you would get lots of errors. Could you post a snapshot of the export progress screen? This is very strange, to say the least.

Finally! I discovered the "Publish Directory" had changed from my original setting. Everything seems to be working fine now. Changes save and publish. Problem solved. Thanks for all of the help.

That's bit me a couple of times. Now I always double check the publish directory when I load a project.

I wonder if it would be possible to update the publish directory when loading a project?
