Hi, I want to create a form for a friend, he's from Greece, and his visitors send him messages with Greek characters, but they are not received well in the email client. Any solution?

Are the Greek characters actually in the email that the host sends out? If so, it may a setup problem in the email client -- does the email client accept Greek characters in other emails?
The SiteSpinner Page Editor > Links, Fonts tab has a setting that controls the default character set. Normally this is ANSI but there is also an "Other" setting that allows you to enter another which might be necessary for Greek. But never having used Greek, I don't know. None of that probably helps, so the next step is to find out exactly where the Greek is getting lost. Can you post a link to a test page that shows a simple form of the type you want to use? Also for us non-Greek writers, some sample Greek text that we could copy and paste into the form fields? |

hi bobbby.
Presuming you are dealing with the SS form editor honestly i haven't done many experiments with forms but i already see that form editor does not accept greek characters as all the editors SSPRO has (text, title,...). To look at all the problematics i had (still have) just read my old posts. I gave up since a basic reason for VM not doing anything about it, is the little number of greek language users (no market). You have two options: 1)Learn to modify the code produced by SS, directly, where your files will be hosted. 2)Buy a different software. If you decide for 1st option i will be glad because there will be a small hope to have a better product (with somebody complaining) and eventually somebody to compare also experiences with greek language and search engines. If you go for the second option i will be more than happy because VM will understand one of the reasons why they are limited in their sales. I think we should say it all... Eh? VM? |

Thanks for your help, but I discovered that the problem was from my contact form. It didn't have support for some special encoding...

Hi bobbby, and welcome to the forum.
I think that newer’s problem was (is) different to yours. You seem to have resolved your problem as it is related to email client input. However, if your friend wishes to develop a web site with SS using Greek characters, you will probably run into the same problems as newer. I did follow most of his posts regarding this problem, but as I am a language delimited user (the same as Bruce I think), I could offer little input. But I do agree with him. Even though the basic HTML is developed in English, there should be an easy way to use a different dictionary, for instance, with the text editor, in another language. I have three different dictionaries installed on my computer and in most programs can switch to which one I want whilst developing, but not with SS. As newer says, VM, please stand up and advise how this can be achieved. Without making a major programming change, I’m sure your developers could advise some shortcuts to replace the existing standard dictionary. |

This thread should help you with installing and using different dictionaries with your text objects. It is a work-around for the lack of a quick switch button within the program.
