Hello,
I know the topic has been treated more than once but I cannot come up with a suitable solution. I have one big 'entry page'for a project made in 1280 x 1024 (according to my site statistics the most used resolution) but I would want this picture to fit on the screen for all other resolutions. Can this be done ? I am using Site Spinner Pro. Thanks ! |

If your project resolution is set to 1280 x 1024 it will fit that resolution best. The visitors that have lower resolution will be forced to scroll horizontally. You can set lower project resolution and use horizonal page centering. Another solution is to use dynamic page sizing described in the Tutorials here. I would recommend that you read through the whole section as the dynamic page sizing and horizontal page centering shouldn't be mixed.

(according to my site statistics the most used resolution)
Are you sure your site stats are not being influenced by your visits? My site stats are skewed by my visits so when I don't visit my site for a while I get a realistic analysis. I'm not saying this is true in your case but it could be a possibility. I thought the general consensus was that 1024 x 768 was the most widely used resolution, although I certainly could be wrong |

And yet another factor is the browser window size. People with screen resolutions of 1280x1024 or higher don't necessarily have their browser set to full screen. So a lower project resolution would suit them just fine.

Thank you all for your valuable contribution - things are getting clearer. Having viewed the first page on different screen resolutions I have decided to go for 'a bit smaller' and horizontal centering, which seems to me the most elegant solution. This userforum really never lets me down !

Hi Brigit
Try this.... http://justaddwater.dk/2006/08...ize-not-screen-size/ This is a great explanation of the issues - with pictures too ! A few of the usage stats may be a little dated but the screen size info is good. Hope this helps. |
