Hi. I have a site I recently created with SiteSpinner Pro and I would like to know how to change just one section of the page when a user clicks on a menu item. The site is www.catering2u.ca . The menu items are not created as yet.

I would like the blue part in the middle of the page to change to display different products without affecting the rest of the page. Thanks in advance for your help.

Probably the best way to do this is by using an i-frame. This will allow you to update a single page which will be displayed inside the i-frame on your page.

Look in the tutorials Advanced section for the chapter on I-frames.

Hi again. I started doing the i-frames tutorial but I have a litle problem:

The tutorial says to click the Page List button after opening the Import Object Editor but the button is disabled because I need to have more than one page in the project.

When I add another page to the project only that page is displayed when I click the Page List button. The actual page that I want to select, History.html as in the tutorial it's not there. I have searched my computer but I can't find it.

I am using SiteSpinner Pro 2.91

It sounds like you are using SS-Pro to create projects that contain only one page. SS-Pro is capable to creating projects with multiple pages; just use the New Page button on the top toolbar or use the Page->Add New Page menu option. If you have already created your extra pages, you can add them to an existing project using the File->Append Project... menu option.

When you create multiple page projects, the pages are available in the page list drop-down menu, and also as linkable pages in the link editor using the [page] option and the Import Object Editor Page List drop-down.

I can see the other pages in my project. It's the History.html page that is mentioned in the tutorial on iFrames that I can't see. I'm trying to follow the tutorial. Go to Advanced Topics->Introduction to i-Frames and try to follow the example where they mention loading the History.html file. I cannot find that file on my computer.

If do Help->Load Tutorials, then after the tutorials load, I can see the History page in the pages drop-down list. I can't say why you do not see it.

If you don't have a page named History in your drop-down page list, and it doesn't show in the i-frame on the tutorial page, then somehow it has been deleted. Stranger things have happened!

I suggest check that you have the latest version of SiteSpinner -- 2.70f, and there is a 2.90 Beta if you are feeling adventurous! Then do a reinstall, or repair install -- either of those should reinstate your missing page.

Hi Brucee,

It does show in the i-Frame in the tutorial but it's not in my drop down list.

In that case, the page is present in the tutorial project. It's a mystery why that page does not show in your page drop-down list(s) in the Tutorials project. You are looking in the Tutorials project? Which list are you viewing? There are five and for me all show the History page right after the HelloWorld page -- and about 50 other pages:
  • Foreign Object Editor > Page List
  • Page Editor > Page Select tab
  • Page Editor > Page Select tab > Arrange button
  • At the top of your Workpage
  • The "Include On" right-click context menu
  •

Well there seems to have been a huge misunderstanding on my part. I was reading the tutorial and trying to do the example in a new project instead of the tutorial project itself.

It did not occur to me that I could add and remove components from the tutorials project. Now that I understand what I was doing wrong it makes sense that I couldn't see the file in a new project.

Thanks for all the help and advice and sorry for the grief I caused. I'll go wipe all this egg off my face now.
