We will be posting an update shortly that should make this a bit easier. However, in the meantime you might want to use the Foriegn Object Editor and try selecting QuickTime, and then clicking on File path to find your avi file.
OK, I uploaded the file http://www.members.cox.net/dalnmutts/movie.html but I can't view it, instead of quicktime I get real player popping up and it says there is no update available to play it. any ideas?
OK, I rigged it where I could view it by linking directly to the avi file on the page where the avi file is. Does that make sense? But if I upload more files, will I have more of the quicktime icon on there? And I still don't understand why it won't just play the movie and why I had to link it like that.
Putting video files on your site can be problematic at times. The reason is that the visitor needs a separate viewer in order to see your video, and different computers have different setups and software installed. For example, the video clip you linked to above worked fine on my end, and called up Windows Media Player (because that is default viewer for those file types). If you find that simply linking to your file works fine for you, then go with it. We will be posting an update shortly that you make linking to avi files a bit easier.
Some hosts /servers(like mine)do'nt allow you to play "streaming" video....because of the fact that it generates to much traffic
Ofcourse if that is the case you could negociate with them.
My host excludes "streaming video"..now what is " streaming video" ? ...in my opinion there is a difference between playing just 1 videoclip and continious live video
anyway i can't upload a 1 minute videoclip because my host does'nt permit it
