I have been asked to help changed some pages on a site that was created using a version of sitespinner. My question is although it appears the last guy uploaded all the project files, what file should i open that will contain all the others? meaning, im trying to figure out how if i delete an object on one page, it gets deleted from all the pages.

You should open the .ims project file.

To avoid accidentally deleting objects from multiple pages, I suggest use the "Cut" option for a one-page delete.

If the original objects were "includes", "Delete" will remove them from all pages. To see where an object is included, right click it and select "Include on...".

so as long as i open up my index page, and then append all the other pages it will be smart enough once i select the block of objects to remove them from each page? Right now it appears I would have to check include on each page first (even though they are already on each page) and then once thats done check remove from all pages??

when you say open the project file, do you mean just the index page, and then append all the other pages?

If the project was created in SS then all pages should be included in a single .ims file. If it was created using WD then you should have several .ims project files, one for each page. In the latter case you can then open the index page file (in SS or SS Pro) and append each project file.

I know that the site was created using one of the two sitspinner projects, and the only reason I say that is its embedded in the html (<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Virtual Mechanics SiteSpinner V2 270 ">
), It was an older version from what I can tell, but none the less. I guess my issue is then I'm guessing he didnt publish the actual project file to the site and just all the page ims files?? Is there any way to tell which might of been the master project file?

If he didn't publish the .ims file to the server and you can't get the .ims file then you'll need to recreate the project in SS. Do check though if maybe he published the .ims file to the server as a backup. You can do it either using an independent ftp client or SS Publisher > FTP tab and browse the server.

If you have .ims file for each page then I would suggest that you open your index page and append the other pages one by one. When you've added all the pages that should create a 'new' master project file for the entire project. Don't forget to save the new project file under a separate name. That seems like the person, who had built the original site, created one page per project instead of creating one project with all pages included. Otherwise there shouldn't be any need to have many .ims files working with SS.

so the problem i thought would occur is occuring and that is, after appending all the pages, the project doesnt seem to realize that for example a title bar when i say remove from all pages, its not remove it from all pages. if i click on include on all pages, and then choose remove from all pages, its just remove the extra one it seems to put on all pages.

You are mixing copies and includes. When you append the other projects to make one large project, the banners are all copies. This means they are independent of each other.

If you then make an include, you will have both the include (on all pages) and the old individual copies. You don't want to remove the include -- rather it is the individual copies you want to be rid of.

To avoid confusion, I think it best to first remove all the individual copies except one, then include that one on all pages.
