So, I made some changes to my site and noticed when I went to http://www.ehaengineering.com that they were not showing...hmmm...I thought.
Changes were, some keywords I put at the bottom of the home page, the green circles in 'NEWS', I changed to red with green outline. Then, I decided to to see if some other changes (such as the RESOURCES page were done.) I click on it, and first of all, noticed that the graphics were really crappy/blurry (I did change everything from png to jpg within sitespinner for faster loading as per some advice from someone on here). Anyways, I then clicked back on HOME from the resources page and VOILA! My changes were there? I think I see the problem, but don't know how to fix it: When I clicked on the HOME tab fro any other page, the URL is www.ehaengineering.com/home.html. THIS page is different than clickin gon www.ehaengineering.com. What did I do....wrong....again.....argh. |

Try viewing through a different browser, or after clearing your temp internet files.

Done already.
I just changed a couple things. I deleted a page using my host providers file manger that had ehaengineering.com/index.html that wasn't modified for a few weeks. I kept the ehaengineering.com/home.html thinking things would work out. Nope, that just made my home page disappear when you when to ehaengineering.com. So, I changed the HOME to INDEX again, re-uploaded the site, and it seems to be fine now. Further, the buttons and some graphics look really crappy since I changed from PNG to JPG - how can I fix? |

Can you define crappy? If you mean not as sharp, then this is the problem inherent with using JPG due to the way it compresses the image file. JPG uses a "lossy" compression method, meaning it throws away pixels in order to achieve the greatest compression. There is a setting in SS when you select to publish an image as JPG. The default value is 75. Increasing this value to 85 will should render a better picture, but still will not be a sharp as the same image in PNG. If you need to go above 85 to get the image quality you want, I recommend you just stay with PNG. If your image has less than 256 colors, try using PNG (AKA PNG-8) as this will optimize the color palette and use color in 8-bit values. Using PNG-24 or PNG+alpha forces color to be treated as 24 and 32 bit values respectively, possibly increasing the file size over its 8-bit counterpart.

Crappy = blurry - out of focus.
I actually found one of your old posts Larryd (think it was yours???) with a tip to increase the default value. Tried that, but no real improvement. I think I will need to use PNG-8 for graphics (aka buttons). |

Hi - My only problem with PNG is with some older browsers - they do not render the PNG tranpsarency very well? Or at all ...
