I have created a banner in SiteSpinner. I want to take it out of SS, and turn it into a .jpg file.
I've done it before, but it's been awhile, and I've forgotten how. Can someone please help? Renée "in omnia paratus" |

See this thread.
An additional step for you is to set the Rendering File Format to JPG -- Geometry Editor > Options tab. |

Thank you for your speedy reply.
Unfortunaty, it didn't work. I have no Geometry Editor under the Options tab. But, I did find one under the Object tab. The only thing in the Options that looked remotely like it would help is Default Image Format, under the Project Options. It didn't work either. It seems to me, the last time I opened the image up in IE then saved it from there, but I wouldn't want to swear to it. That didn't work this time either. I am becoming quite frustrated over this one. Renée "in omnia paratus" |

I just had a thought.
Do I have to set the Rendering File Format before I design the banner? Renée "in omnia paratus" |

No, the only requirement is to set the file format before preview or publish. If you miss this step, you probably end up with the default PNG format image.
The Geometry Editor is a separate editor, normally it shows as an icon in the bottom left toolbar. Once you can preview your new image, then drag it from your preview page back into your workpage. The next time you save your project, you will be asked to re-save your image file -- at that time you can give it a more useful name. |

Okay....I found the Geometry Editor in the lower left corner.
I must be the dunce of the century. How do I drag the image from the preview window, to the work page? When I preview, it opens up in IE, and I don't see any way to drag it anywhere. Also, the Geometry Editor, seems to want deal with the separate components of the banner I've designed, rather than dealing with it as a whole, although the preview shows the total image. Also, I noticed that when I preview the banner, the area directly behind the title is all squirrely and looks kind of like rippled water. Renée "in omnia paratus" |

Taking your questions in order:
1. If you have your workpage partially overlapping (or partially under) your preview page, you can drag the image from the preview to the workpage. 2. If you select the group by clicking on it, then open the Geometry Editor, the options tab will show show a type of 'Group' for the object -- if you have done everything correctly 3. I don't know what is causing the rippled water effect -- can you post a link to a page with your finished image? |

I've been working on this for about 8 hours now, and it simply isn't happening.
What's really frustrating me is that all the times I did it several weeks ago, it was no big deal. I made and saved a bunch of banners as .jpg files, and it was very easy to do. There is no "Group" in the Geometry Editor. No matter what I try to do with the banner, the parts go separately. I can't seem to do anything with them as a group. I believe the cause of the water effect is because I made the text background transparent. I'll have to deal with that later. And.....just to add insult to injury, I can't seem to make rounded corners on rectangles anymore. I want my Mommy!!! Renée "in omnia paratus" |

The process is normally quite easy.
Has something happened to your computer since you last did it? And what version of SiteSpinner are you using? Your profile says you are using Web Dwarf. You can still make groups with that and re-render, but there isn't a Geometry Editor. But you found the Geometry Editor bottom left -- therefore you can't be using Web Dwarf? You can't round rectangle corners in Web Dwarf though. For SiteSpinner, there is a tutorial that covers this: Help > Tutorials > Creating Straight Shapes. What happens if on a fresh page, you group two rectangles together? The group should show as a third object. |

I'm using SiteSpinner V2.50. something or other, since shortly after I signed into the forum for the first time.
As for the Tutorial....been there, did that. The problem is that when I use the Vertices Editor, there are no little white boxes. I even darkened the background thinking that maybe I just couldn't see them against the white. All I get are the usual 6 handles, and the curved bar with arrow ends. As for changes to my computer, yes there has been one. I installed an new HD, and had to reinstall SiteSpinner. As per your suggestion, I tried on a fresh page with two rectangles. Whether they are placed one within the other, or side by side, there is still no "Group" in the Geometry Editor. I just don't understand why the program is giving me such fits now. It was so easy to use before. I have a great Halloween banner, with rounded corners, that I made using SiteSpinner. It's a real beauty, and it is now a .jpg file. Anymore suggestions? There seems to be something seriously wrong with your SS installation, so now is a good time to re-install and upgrade at the same time.
The latest version is SS Ver 2.70c. You should be able to access it via Help > Check for Updates... |

Okay......Today is a new day.
I now have SS V2.70 c installed. I have solved the Vertices problem, and have a new banner with rounded corners. However.......Unless I save it as a .ims file, I only get the separate componets. I just previewed the new banner. Even though it shows in the preview as a single image, when I attempt to drag it back onto the work page, the only thing that goes is whatever component the cursor was on when I dragged it. It is not going as a unit, which is the same problem I was having yesterday. I have tried previewing as both Page and Project, with the same result. And.......there is still no "Group" in the Geometry Editor. I went all through the help files this morning, and couldn't find anything about saving to a.jpg file. Did I just not find it? Where would I find documentation on doing this? Renée "in omnia paratus" |

Assuming you have grouped the image, (just click and drag a box around the objects, then right click and select "group selected objects"), when you preview, did you try a right click "save-as" and just save it to file? You can then just use the Mona Lisa icon to bring it back into your project.
Also, once you've grouped it, did you go to the "quick properties" editor and check "re-render"? I think the default for a group is for re-render to be off. P.S. If you have rounded corners, you'll probably need to save your banner as a .png or .gif, so that you can have the "corners" outside the rounded off area be set to transparent if you need to have it that way in the future, for instance to use it on a different color background. __________________ Just a man who is trying to understand. |

Another way is just to select the parts of the banner (or 'select all' to get everything on the page) then right click > 'Copy' and paste into MSPaint or whatever image editor you use. Then just trim if needed and save as 'jpeg'.
Oh yes, for your grouping question, make sure re-render is set (Quick Properties, Object tab) to force the group to render as a single image. |

To Brucee, Phil and Harpo,
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. While it isn't the way I did it before it works, and that's all that matters. This time I will write down the instructions, for future reference. Thank you again. Renée "in omnia paratus" |
