Selecting a text font color via the Color button and the color palette (after the Default check-box is unchecked) does not change the text font color. The eye dropper does work.

Hi larryd,

In the Text Editor, if I type some text it is black, if I pause and then select the colour palette, select a new colour, and then continue typing, the new text is the new colour. Is this not what you see?

Sorry I was not very clear. I am talking about the form editor (text, text area, etc.) value fields.

1. Place a form text box on the page. Double click to open the form editor window.

2. Uncheck the default box, and click the color button. Note the gray background of the eye dropper tool. Select a new color and click OK. Note that the eye dropper tool's background color is not changed to reflect the new color (it is still the original gray color).

3. Click OK on the form editor and then reopen. Note that the eye dropper background is now black (indicating the current value text color).

4. Use the color button and select a new color. Note the eye dropper background is still the same color not the new color. Close the form editor and verify the new color has not been set.

5. Reopen the form editor and highlight the contents of the value field. Use the color button to pick a new color. Note that there is still no change. Now clear the contents of the value field and use the color button to choose a new color. Now enter new text in the value field (note the background color of the eye dropper tool). Now click OK on the form editor and you should see that the new color has now taken effect, even though it did not show anywhere on the form editor. If you reopen the form editor, it will now show the chosen color.

6. Put a new form text box on the page and open the its form editor. Uncheck the Default box and this time use the eye dropper tool to pick a color. Note that the eye dropper background immediately changes color to the new selected color. Click the form editor's OK button and the value field text shows the color change.

7. Reopen any of the text boxes and use the eye dropper to choose a new color. Click the form editor's OK button and note that the text color has changed to the new color. To use the color button to do the same thing, you would have to clear the value field and re-enter the text, but the eye dropper tool changes it immediately.

If you uncheck the default box, and select a color via the color palette, the color picked does not show up on the eye dropper, nor is it applied to the text in the value field until you clear the value field and re-enter new text. However, if you use the eye dropper, value text colors are changed immediately.

I hope this explains the problem better.

OK, got it. Thanks for that detailed explanation. I'll pass it on to Development to take a look.
