Sitespinner keeps shutting down. The message I get is:

"The instruction at 0x73dd11c7 referenced memory at 0x00000004. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program."

What does this mean? I've also gotten the error message that I'm out of "high render memory" and it shuts down.

This happens about every 5 or 6 actions. It's driving me nuts.

My computer is brand-new and it's got plenty of memory.

Help?

Kristen,

Try going to Options and uncheck 'High Render Work Window'.

Let us know if that helps.

Derry,

"High render work window" was already unchecked. I'm still getting the error message every few actions. Any other suggestions?

Hi Kristen,

Is this the same computer you had the problem with last April? If not have your tried all those things?

Also, do you have the latest SiteSpinner (version 2.50f)? that has many improvements and may solve the problem.

It may be a particular image or effect on the image that is causing a problem in your video driver. Can you narrow down the set of images to isolate the problem one?

If you try the video driver checks here That may remove the source of the problem. (if you have a different brand or video card adjust the instuctions accordingly that it, don't go to the ATI site).

Ugh. I've tried to determine if it's certain images that make it shut down, but it shuts down no matter which ones I'm using. I clean components every few actions.

My project is very similar to the "paintings" page at www.mezaartstudio.com. I'm currently trying to group a series of titles and images so that when you mouse-over a certain icon the grouped thing pops up. (example: you mouse-over a fish and a painting pops up with the title, "Gallery One: New Paintings."

(I don't know if any of that is relevant.)

I'm working on an HP machine with XP. I've downloaded the new version of SS. "Hi Render" is unchecked. Could it still be the video driver even though my computer is brand-new?

Before when I got the "Ox73dd11c7" message, it just popped up. Now, I get a microsoft box that says, "Sitespinner V2 application has encountered a problem and needs to close." I hit "OK," and then the "Ox73dd11c7" box pops up. The microsoft box or whatever gives me the option of sending an error report. Should I do that?

Any other suggestions?

This is one of the more difficult problems to track down. As I see it, there are three possible causes:
  • Hardware problem on your computer
  • A Microsoft bug
  • A SiteSpinner bug

If you feel like playing Sherlock Holmes, there are some tests you can run to zero in on the problem:
  • Try running your SS project on another computer with Win XP.
  • Run a variety of other programs on your HP computer
  • Try the sample projects that ship with SiteSpinnner
  • Try a divide-and-conquer on your project. Chop the project into two halves -- if you find the problem in one half but not the other, repeat the chop.

When I re-read your earlier posts, I gather that you have had this same problem on two different computers? If so, the divide-and-conquer approach is most likely to give results.

Let's know what you find out...
