Everytime I publish my web site it says that a file is not found, however I'm not supposed to have that file linked to my web site. I think I used to have a link to that file but have removed the file (and thought I removed the link but apparently I didn't). How do I locate where I have a link to that file?

You should be able to narrow it down to a page. If you note where the error first appears in the Export Progress Window, the next html file published is the problem page.
I have seen a bug like this in the past, so if that does not help to solve the problem, let's know and I will look further. |

Bruceee,
I found out what page it is on (I suspected a page) and have clicked on EVERYTHING on the page but none of them have a link to that file. Maybe the origin of this will help solve it: I had a link to a telephone directory. As names or numbers were changed/added I would go into Word and make the changes and save it as the same name but with one higher number (Directory_24)and then change the link to the updated file name. Now, having said this, I hope I didn't complicate the answer that has nothing to do with that. This process has worked up until #24 but somewhere #13 has a link on this page. I just published and this was the error: Collecting file: EFC_Church_Directory_v_24.pdf (272017 bytes) --Open File Error 2 opening local file: c:\users\linda\#web stuff\pdf\efc_chur ch_directory_v_13.pdf What do you think? |

So this is a real current file: EFC_Church_Directory_v_24.pdf
and this is an old file that no longer exists: efc_church_directory_v_13.pdf? Can you post a link to the problem page? And also what name are you using for your .ims project file? (Assuming that it is auto-backed up to your site and that I can download it from there.) |

Bruceee,
Below is the link to the problem page and, yes: efc_church_directory_v_13.pdf no longer exists and: EFC_Church_Directory_v_24.pdf is the current file. I know this sounds stupid (what can I say?) but what do you mean "what is the name I use for my .ims project file?" Do you mean my IP address? http://ellensburg4square.com/membersonly.html Thanks, so much, for your help. Newie |

Bruceee,
I just figured it out! I deleted the Directory name and created another one and linked that to the newest directory pdf file. Apparently when I kept using the same 'EFC Directory' name but kept changing the link to the newest pdf file the program (or host?) didn't like it so now there is no error when I published again. I really appreciate your help! newie |

Bruceee,
One last thing. Would you please explain what you meant by 'ims project file' name? Thanks. newie |

Your SiteSpinner project is contained in a file with a .ims file extension -- whenever you click Save from your workpage, SiteSpinner updates or creates that file. It is an important file, as it contains all the details about your project, rather like a Word document in MicroSoft Word.
Often we can diagnose problems just by looking at your published .html pages. But for the trickier problems, it is a lot easier if we can see your .ims project file. SiteSpinner normally auto-backs up this file to your site when you publish, and if we know the name you used for the file, we can download it by entering its full URL into a browser address bar. |
