Harpo,

I am still having the problem of hanging when using the animation feature as we discussed in this thread on October 7th.

I have just been trying to delete some unwanted act paths on this pagewhen the program hung and closed down losing all the changes. Will the unwanted actpaths cause any problems, it seems difficult to delete them.

The .ims file is C&S.ims.

Also the /Projects.html page seems to take ages to load in preview.

Can you help with any of this please?

- Tony

I can download the file and previewed all successfully. For me, the Projects page takes about 11 seconds to preview -- and animations still work even without images.

Your speed may be something to do with the images -- you could test this by removing the images temporarily.

Ok, It works from that link. Maybe I typed it incorrectly into the browser. I will take a look.

Ok, I can see a crash.

If I open that project and go to the 'Projects' page, I find that if I delete an actPath (e.g. act5Path) then select the object that used that path (e.g. obj238), SSP will crash. But only if I have the Quick Editor's Action tab open.

So... there is obviously a bug in there that we need to fix but the workaround seems to be: keep the action tab closed while deleting action path objects.

Let me know if that is not the same problem that you are seeing.

One thing on the image size. You can reduce the size (and so the load speed up, somewhat) of the white background rectangles on your pages by changing the image type from JPG to PNG8. That will make them about a tenth the size (2400 vs 24000 bytes for the Projects page) and make the image a little crisper.

Harpo,

I still had a crash with the Quick Editors Action tab closed after I had deleted about 3 actPath's.

I found that if I "saved" after each delete it appeared to be OK.

On the image size... I have changed the rectangle image type to PNG8 from JPG but it's still very slow, about 15 seconds to open preview. It must be all those Thumbnails!

Ok, thanks for letting us know. When we find the source of the crash I saw we should be able to tell if it can happen with the action tab closed. If not there may be a second bug in there.

Yes, there are a lot of thumbnails but rememeber part of the time it takes to preview is the time it takes to create those images. Your site viewers won't have that delay. They will have the image download time though.

If you preview in an external browser, you can see the difference by pressing CTRL+R in the browser. CTRL+R does a full reload (for IE anyway) but won't, of course, rebuild the images. That should be somewhat faster the the intial preview, for this project.
