I've tested the same object using SS 2.70 f, SS 2.90a BETA and SS Pro. When viewed in FF the object is rendered correctly but in IE8 only the previewed/published SS 2.70 f is correct

The dimensions of the object are 107x4

I thought VM had fixed these bugs related to short external images. Is your image an external one, or one created within SiteSpinner?

Hi Bruce, that's what I thought as well. The strange thing is that there is no problem in 2.70f but in Beta and Pro. The image is an external one. You will find both the image and three ims files for download here.

I can recreate this in the latest Betas for SS Pro, SS Basic and WebDwarf. It seems to be a different bug to what I have seen before, affecting only IE8. As with Firefox, Opera and Chrome are also OK.

It is only IE8 that shows a problem, stretching the 4px high image to 12 px.

Looks like 'Set <img> as 100%' width/height of object <div>' is turned on. I thought we had it turned off by default but maybe not.

Turning it off in your project options should solve the problem.

Let us know if it doesn't.

I have been having grief with IE8 not showing many images at all. Then refresh and they show although sometimes then a different one does not show. I have been curnsing at MS not SS.
I now note this suggestion of turning off the Set<img> as 100% in the Project Options. First, I have absolutly no idea what this setting does but if I now turn it off must I repost all my sites (42 of them - some with 50 or moare pages) to solve this for IE8. Since MS won't listen to me maybe SS Pro can do some magic in a download or make a more practical suggestion. HELP

This setting should not prevent images from appearing. It controls how they are scaled to fit their holding container.

Can you post a link to one of your pages giving you problems? There may be other factors effecting how IE8 is displaying the images.

Thanks for your response. I just installed IE8 yeaterday and the issue is very erratic. See the following:
http://ceramicsonedge.com/index.html - where sometime the Title at the top does not appear and sometimes the graphic top left does not. Refresh and sometimes one or both show.
http://redbaronettes.com/ - the animated gif top right sometimes fails
http://secheltseniors.com/ - the light green page back drop fails sometimes
http://magee55.com/ - the title grahic at the top fails
It is all as if IE* gives up before it finishes the job - a refressh gets it going but not perfectly. Lazy damn browser!!! Not such issues with Firefox or Safari or Opera or Chrome - so far.

Do you have another computer available with IE8 installed? All your pages are showing up fine for me using IE8. I have cleared cache, reloaded, and refreshed several times with no ill effects. The only problem I encountered was the magee55.com site which took a long time to load the QT audio stream.

Have you tried placing IE8 into Compatibility Mode to see if that helps your viewing problem? Are you on a wired or wi-fi connection? Are these sites on the same hosting service?

Once again thanks. I don't have another PC to test on and I am on cable so I can only conclude that something in my PC is interfering. I have had no complaints yet from anyone. I will try the compatability thing but my prime insterest is how others see sites.
Yes, the Magee55 site takes awhile to load up the audio file even if it does not play it without action. Keeping you on side have you any good ideas for speeding up that?
Again, thanks.

Nothing you can do about the mp3 loading faster. QT can stream the file, so if someone wanted to hear the music before it finished loading, they should be able to (if they have their QT set up properly).
