SITESPINNER VERSION 2.50f

first of all, a "save as template" would be a good idea from the file menu..

secondly - you copy/save a file to the "My Documents" "my templates" location....

Confused every time you want to open up a template, it reverts to the "program file" "templates" which comes with sitespinner...

Frown if you change it the first time - you would expect it to go back to the location you choose the last time..

Smile personally i think it would be nice to have a popup asking if you want to use sitespinner templates or your own - with a check box, don't ask this again......

***** the only way i could get around it was to copy the sitespinner templates to a subfolder, and put my templates in there instead

A template is not a special project file. It is an ordinary SiteSpinner project file like any other. If you want to save a project as a template, then just save the project in the SS Template folder.

It sounds like what you want to do is change the location of the default templates directory. That may not be a good idea. I can envision that at some point, someone would change the default and then wonder why they cannot open any of the standard SS templates.

It seems easier just to save your templates in the default directory. If you created a sub-folder of the template directory, it would be visible in the Open Template... window.

hi larryd,

you are probably using the pro version of SS

when i installed SS, it created the following sub folders in "my documents" - "my ims projects" - "my templates"

if i save a file to "my templates" (for which i must be careful to save my next project to the "projects" folder.

anyway, after i save a template to "my templates" and i go and create a new page - when i hit the "file" - "open template"..... Frown I can't get "My templates" without searching through the folders - back up to "My documents" and then down to the "My templates"

i mean, what good is having a "My templates" folder - if you have to go looking for it when you click on "open template"

update ******oh, just had a thought, - which may be why it is creating confusion - if you have a project in "my templates" - it doesn't show up when you click "open templates" at all....

The most current version of SiteSpinner is 2.70f and it should be placing the templates in C:\Program Files\Virtual Mechanics\SiteSpinner V2.7\Templates

agreed, worked that out

but that still doesn't explain why it created a "my documents" "my ims projects" "My templates"

sorry, my mistake, i am using 2.70f - and there is no "save template" function - so you have to manually save or copy down to the program files..
