I have selected "Use large bar" for this toolbar and have it docked on the right of the screen, with the Object bar below it. The trouble I am having is that icons keep disappearing on the Components bar, and, instead, two of the same icon will appear - only one of which works. After lots of mouse clicks, the missing icons will re-appear, but not for long. I don`t know if this is a bug, but if someone knows how to stop it happening, I would be much obliged!

Can you suggest a sequence of steps that we could try to make it happen? A bug that someone else can create has a much better chance of being fixed.

Does this happen if you leave the components toolbar in its default location on the left?

When the icons go awry, can you bring them back by hiding, then again showing the components toolbar from View > Toolbar Options menu?

It happens when I click an icon or after I have closed the relevant window : the icon will move and the icon it displaces will disappear or double up by changing another icon. Also, gaps will appear where they shouldn`t be. Then, if I run the mouse pointer over the icons, but without clicking, they keep changing to something different. It is the same whether the toolbar is at the right or the left. If I click the “handle”, they go back to how they should be. I have customised the bar and removed some components that I never, or very rarely, use, and added some others, but if I re-set the bar to the default – although still keeping it on the righthand side of the screen - all seems to be well. I have re-set to default and then customised the bar twice as a test, and the problem always arises after customisation.

Can you give details of a simple customization that shows the problem? Exactly what do you delete and what do you add?

With the Components bar on the right I added the vertical and horizontal lines and deleted the "Lock" and "Edit Vertices". Added a few objects to a test page, moused over the icons and it all seemed to still work. What test should I do to make it happen -- e.g. should I use a particular component?

From your description it may be a refresh issue. The underlying icons are still there but the display of those icons is wrong. When you click the drag handle, that forces a correct refresh of the icon display and then they appear correctly. Tentative theory Smile

I'm using WinXP SP2 with nearly all the latest updates and SiteSpinner V2.70e. What are you using?

I have customised the Components bar by removing Edit Vertices, Create Rendered Text, Enter Code Text, and Page Editor, and adding Draw Horizontal Line and Draw a Vertical Line. However, after a lot of playing around with different permutations, I have worked out that the problem only arises when I use large icons, and happens regardless of any customisations (I think).

For example : I clicked “Add a Picture” and the icon moved down a row and was replaced by another “Draw Polygon”, which was in the row above it. When I clicked the duplicate Polygon icon, it didn`t work, although it did depress. I then moved the mouse pointer to “Add a Table”, and without clicking, this icon changed to “Add Text” which, when clicked, opened the correct window. Weird or what?

I am using Win XP Home Edition SP2 (with all updates) and SS version 2.7.0.4 (is that 2.70e?).

With SS V2.70.e and large icons, I have removed your four icons, added your two and docked the components bar on the right.

Then added some images to my workpage via the Mona Lisa icon, and a few other objects. My components bar showed no signs of a problem.

Looks like you may have an old SiteSpinner, which might have had problems with the components bar. Your version number for SS looks strange. In the Windows Add/Remove Programs, my reported version shows 2.16.

The real version number usually shows in the status bar at the bottom of your SS workpage, or use the main menu Help > About. If you haven't updated in the last month, you don't have the latest version Smile

I tried Trik's latest steps and I see the problem now. We will look into it to see what is going on.

It appears to have something to do with that toolbar having a double row. One workaround is to to turn off the 'Large' toolbar option.

Bruceee : The version I was using was 2.70d, but I have now upgraded to 2.70f and the problem is still there, as Harpo has found.

Harpo : I have changed to the normal-size Components bar for now, and docked it at the top of the work page, below the File bar. Strangely, the icons seem bigger and clearer up there, rather than at the side of the screen.

Thanks to both of you for looking into this.
