I decided to revise an existing file and saved it to a new file name to work on. I publish a lot while working and this baby froze Web Engine 8 times at the commencement of publishing. (In one case I claimed the back up file and found it to be older than the saved file I had just tried to publish.)

I eventually saved it back to the original file name and had no further problems whatsoever. Go figure.

Conclusion: a) You will get no arguments from me if you get rid of the back-up file. I always save before publishing and have found it not only to be redundant but also dangerous. b) There is something still buggy either with the Save algorithm or the Publish Algorithm.

Cheers,
Muzz

Hi Muzzy,

OK, we're looking into the issue with the 'backup' file.

As for saving/publishing. If you suspect that there is a bug, it would really help us to track it down if you could tell us how to reproduce it.

Sounds like it AndyP. But it sure wasn't intermittent for awhile last night.

Derry,

I didn't report "circumstances" becuase there was nothing apparently unique about the pre-publish condition. This is the URL

http://members.shaw.ca/rrsknox/khspdial.html

This is a page you have and haven't seen before. I reworked the entire page including the table, and the publishing problem did NOT occur just when I did one specific operation such as save and publish after changing the colours in an object; or changing the shape of an object; or creating an object --- on the surface it was apparently random. I believe in causality so I am sure that is not the case, but it is not revealing its inner logic in this matter in a ready manner.
