Have you ever come across this before? . . .

Reinstalled SiteSpinner Pro on a rebuilt pc, installation went fine. However, whenever SiteSpinner is started I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

quote:
Runtime Error!
Program error . . . /SiteSpinnerProV2.exe

abnormal program termination

The PC is running XP with all the latest updates.
I've tried reinstalling the C++ Library but to no advantage.
Likewise have uninstalled SiteSpinner Pro and reinstalled twice.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Bruce

Welcome back, adroit old timer!

What version of SS Pro have you installed? -- the latest is Ver 2.91d, released just a few days ago.

I also run Win XP with SP3, but not all the latest updates, and have not seen this problem. I have seen crashes on startup caused by some problem with a project file. Does this happen both if you double-click a known good .ims project file, and if you just run the naked SS Pro .exe file -- e.g., from a basic Windows shortcut?

Hi Both,

Thanks for the suggestions and welcome Cool .

The problem has been resolved - although as I changed several variables it's not possible to pin down which one was the cause.

In case anyone else has a similar problem here's the list

1. Downloaded the package again - version 'c' (in case of previous corruption).
2. Uninstalled all previous versions
3. Cleaned up the registry
4. Rebooted.
5. Put a CD of ims files in the cd drive
6. Installed SiteSpinner Pro
7. Started SiteSpinner Pro (started just fine)
8. Upgraded to version 'd'

If the issue arises again I'll try and pin down the solution to specific actions.
