Have added a password for one of my web locastions. If the password is incorrect it does not move to the specified URL as indicated in the page properties. www.simplybetterway/damned with the password sins. IT shold trap to www.simplybetterway/error2.html but does not.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi TT1,

First of all, the links you supplied aren’t valid. You missed out the DOT COM after simplybetterway.

Secondly, it is not a bug (as yet) with the SS software, so maybe should have been posted in either the "How Do I" or "Web General Discussion" areas, but that's not important, as long as you get some help.

Going to the “damned” link takes me straight to the “error2.html” page which gives me no indication of password entry.

When going direct to your home page, I can’t see any links or reference as to a password being required either.

For the forum to be able to help you, we will need to know where and how you are implementing the password requirement. Most importantly, a link to the page that asks for a password.

Are you using the Site Spinner’s tutorial method, or are you using a script?

In the first instance, please supply a link to the page that requires a password.

In the second instance, the same as above, plus, if the script is a server side script such as ASP or PHP, please post the code so we can try and find the error.

Also, as an added suggestion, most error pages should have a link to return the user back to the “sign-in” page to try again.

Double-check the javascript code you are using for the password check. The code validating the password has a link to direct your visitor to error2.html or post an alert box with an "Incorrect Password" message. If the password is successful, where is the user supposed to go? There does not seem to be a link for that.

Larry,

Where did you find TT1’s code?

I checked his (hers) home page and the pages TT1 gave links to, but couldn’t find any code.

SORRY ABOUT NOT PROVIDING ALL THE INFORMATION.
THe password was also changed which I forgot.
Using the page properties option in Site Spinner Pro v 2.90 b

I have a web site www.simplybetterway.com which if you subscribe to, you can find the 7 deadly sins of Internet Marketing.
The subscriber will be directed to www.simplybetterway.com/damned.html
This is a password protected and you can only get if you subscribe. Password sent via email P/W is 7sins

We set this up using Sitspinner Page properties, see below.
Under page properties for damned.html page
On the header tab
checked - Enable password protection
P/W - 7sins
link on failed password
www.simplybetterway.com/error2.html
(the error page)

I have now set up a link back to damned.html on the error page in case the password was incorectly typed.

NOW if the password is typed incorrectly the page is opened Yahooo!!!!
However if the password is not entered correctly it stays on the enter password page, and does not go to the error page.

Any suggestions on what might be happening here, or am I reading it wrong?

This password feature is a relatively new feature in SS Pro, and there have been recent changes. You are using SSPro 2.90b, while the latest is V2.91 -- so I suggest you upgrade.

I tried a simple password test with SSPro 2.91 (your password) and that worked for me.
