This is using the beta pro version (not sure how it does in other versions).

If you select vertical titles and resize or scale them while temporarily grouped, they dissappear*. As Larry pointed out to me (via email correspondence) you can go into the quick editor and on the object tab you can change the values back to 0 (skew) and 1 (scale) and they will reappear.
