With Render Background off, and Anti-Alias on, it seems that Title Objects still render with some of the background.

Here is my demo project, created using the following steps:
  • Make these three titles in this order, using a large font, like Arial 22 pt:
    Black obj1 = XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Red obj2 = This is an example of a title
Red Obj3 = This is an example of a title
  • Set obj1 with a special effect Special FX > Loading > Hide After Loading
  • Place obj2 so that it covers obj1.
  • Set Render Background off for obj2 and obj3.
  • Preview

Why does the obj2 image show black jaggies, even though Render Background should be off?

    Hi Bruceee,

I think that happens because the anti-alias is turned on. Not a bug, more of a limitation. With anti-alias turned on the text is blended with the background even if the actual background is not rendered. The problems is that the background changes when the background text is hidden.

So, in your example we could either blend it with the black text or with the white background. Either way, it would not match in one situation or the other. Probably, what is needed here is a choice of whether to blend with the background objects or not and/or also the choice to use PNG with alpha transparency.

I think that with Render Background off, it should anti-alias against a white background (background off). That is then consistent with the user's wishes.
