Hi
Just found another Bug in Web Dwarf if it's not already known about. If I publish one of my pages using 'Sub Folders' (Default folder names), which I want to do then WD 'screws up' the top and bottom of my page 'box' In the WD 'working window' the page is perfect, also perfect in preview. If I UNCHECK Sub Folders and then publish the page it will now appear perfectly. Please see the attached pictures as examples... Published as sub folders... Published NOT using sub folders... As you can see on the first image the top line has now doubled in width and the vertical lines protrude through it. On the second image it is how it should be. Is there a work around for this please anyone as I do want to use sub folders because it is so much neater on the server. Thanks Andy |

Hi
My appologies for 'slandering' WD After some more re work the page then got messed up without using subfolders. What I was doing was if I altered any of the box lines in any way ie height/position and then re published the page I wasn't re uploading the geometry 'images' as I presumed it would use the ones it already has ! Of course though I have altered them so they are now different ones. The odd thing is though surely the page should then be displayed without the lines that had been altered because the geometry no's are different. Then of course if the lines were missing it would be obvious. So entriely MY fault, but still seems a bit odd that lines were still being 'drawn' but obviously incorrectly. Very red faced and my humble appologies :-( Guess I should give it a break now ! Regards Andy |

Back to 'square one' :-(
IT IS A BUG. I deleted my entire site of the server and reloaded all the 'data' One of my pages say 'desktop' will now be messed up and 'security' wiil be ok. If I then re publish 'desktop' that will now be fine and 'security' will be messed up & visa versa.. I could continue all night. I again deleted it all and tried an old version of WD with the same results. There is obviously some kind of conflict going on and WD can not 'handle' loads of geometry images that are nearly identical. I now have now idea what to do as my site is now 'scrap' as it is, even if I wanted to do it all over again (I don't) the same thing is just going to happen. So as I said the first time any ideas please... Andy |

Yes. And no Chances are you have the same project number for your 'desktop' and 'security' projects. This can lead to duplicate image names as you seem to be getting. So make sure each project on your site has a unique project number -- the setting is under Options > Project Options... Normally if you create a new project (page), that automatically gets a new project number. But if you copy another project, the original and copy will have the same project numbers. That may be what has happened. |

I Love you and want to have your Babies ! It worked like charm, as you predicted both those pages had the same project no. I've never ever taken any notice of that setting as I didn't think you need't to touch it, I guess one day I might even read the Help files ! It's taken me so long to try and get 'into' doing this latest site that when I eventually did and started to spend some serious time on it I was somewhat gutted when it went 'belly up' last night. Yet again I'm in your debt Bruceee, many thanks for sorting me out.... again Kind regards Andy |

Just to add...
Even now that I have different project no.s per page if I make ANY adjustemnts, lets say just moving a line forward/backward a few places and then re publish it the displayed page is 'messed up' again. Every time I do a change I have to delete the entire geometry folder on line and then reload all the pages. Rather tiresome but it fixes it every time, well I least I know how to sort it. Cheers Andy |

If you change the project number, you will have to republish the whole project. That project number appears in all the image file names that WD creates. So you are changing everything to do with that page, even though it might not look like it.

Sure I understand that, but now I have different no.s per page and they don't change and are all re published. But if say 'desktop' is no.60 & security is 65 but then alter one of the geometry lines on say 60 then re upload it will still 'mess up' 65. I have to delete all of the geometry for 60&65 then reload both to get the appearance correct again. So I'm not changing the project no.s just the geomety objects, but still getting a 'conflict' ! At least with the different page no.s I can fix it. Also I keep meaning to say the further you go down the 'working window' in WD the more out of line it all gets when you preview/publish it. You have to start overlapping text in the working window to get it to look correct. This is the same in both my versions of WD, is it also like this in SS? Regards Andy |

I suggest you look closely at the image names of the images it is messing up. You may find some old cross connections between the .html files and image file names. (From when both projects had the same number.)
If you don't want to go down that path, as you note, re-publishing both projects with their now unique project numbers should be a final fix. The text spacing is a browser issue, rather than a SS or WD issue. A guess -- you are using IE for preview? This spacing difference shows up in IE but not Firefox. There are work-arounds -- more here. |

Just recovering after a nasty virus decided to attack me after it new I had found it ! After about 10 hours work it's nearly back to normal...
Slightly less stressed now but found all your information on that page rather a 'head banger' in my present delicate condition ! What I did take in was very informative, and I think I believe you I think I'm probably doing alot of those 'work arounds' already without realising it. I always thought it was a bit odd. Anyway thanks again, off to try and get some sleep for once. Regards Andy |
