for some reason, my special effects arent working on only ONE of my pages. is it something i did?
i tried making a new simple action like "hide, then show" on a new object on the page, and that didnt even work. they worked in the preview window while i was working earlier. then web engine crashed from something else, and i opened it back up and now they dont work. EDIT: i just realized there must be an error in the code. because i see a lot of html on the bottom of the page. so i uploaded it as the file that WebEngine published in hopes it can help solve the bug. here is a link: http://saltspringcateringbykelly.com/gourmetcruises.html since im still new to html, please help me out. at the same time, i hope this info can help reveal the bug. The page has been truncated, and Firefox shows the javascript code at the bottom. IE7 doesn't do this, but even so, the page is no better.
The page should end with a closing </html> tag -- that is clearly missing with a lot of other stuff besides. When you preview, does that work the same? If you look at the code, do you see a closing </html> tag then? One way to view the code is, with the preview page showing in your Firefox Browser, use Ctrl+U (View Page Source) and scroll down to the bottom. If that is OK, can you upload (publish) the same page again? -- just in case the truncation happened in transmission. |

yes this does happen in the preview when i hit the "preview" button. and its like that after a publish the page.
you are right there is a </HTML> missing at the end. so i just added that to the file in notepad and it didnt do anything. i have very little experience in html so i dont have a clue how to fix it. do you need me to send you something? |

hood,
With all the problems you are having, I would suggest that you re-download and re-install WebEngine. What you are seeing is not normal. You should not need to re-enter your registration info unless you uninstall first. Hopefully you still have the info if needed. |

im sorry i been postin like hell these few days!
ok heres an update. i think i figured it out. i remade the page and everything worked fine! YAY! BUT then.... i used the "Include on all pages" thing. then BOOM!!!!! it happened again! the page was truncated. this has to be a bug right? steps: 1- made blank page 2- put special effects on that page, and tested them. and they worked. 3- went to another page and chose 2 pictures, hit "include on" check marked the NEW PAGE. 4- hit preview and its truncated. thats what i did last time. i tried to recreate it but its not doing it i would appreciate it, if sum1 can take a look at the source and help me fix it... http://saltspringcateringbykelly.com/gourmetcruises.html |

When you publish, your project's ims file is auto-backed up to your web site. Could you post your project ims file name? This will allow investigation of your project and see what may be wrong inside of it.

there ya go. hope u can get to the bottom of this! i really appreciate all the fast/helpful responses i get here in the forums, that is an additional feature that is like icing on the cake for a good program. it should be included on like a "WE/SS Features List" cuz it really makes a huge difference. p.s. dont laugh at my .ims file! im new to the game! EDIT: larry, i figured out how to reverse the problem. once u open the file, 1- goto the "home" page and the knife and fork are the things that are supposed to be on all pages 2- select the fork image and goto "Include on" 3- uncheck "gourmetcruises" page 4- check the "remove included object from unchecked pages" 5- repeat with the spoon image and then preview the "gourmetcrusis" page and its fixed. EDIT: (AGAIN) ok, i tried sumthin else. i realized there was a sound connected to the knife. so i hit the sound editor button on the left and deleted all the sounds. (i must have put them there by accident when i was playing with the program.) and now the page is fully functional. This message has been edited. Last edited by: hood, |

Thanks got that. You also had an empty event on the title 'Gourmet Cruises'. Removing that also fixes the problem.
I have condensed your project down to a single page with just a few objects, that still shows the truncation problem. Have forwarded that on to Virtual Mechanics. |

Thanks hood, larryd and bruceee for bringing this up and isolating the problem and thanks for the condensed file bruceee. That really helps.
The problem turns out to be that the sound object does not have a sound file attached. This is what is actually happening: When WebEngine adds in a sound, that has no file name, to the script as a scriptable object, scripting fails and it stops generating HTML. WebEngine only add the sound to the script if there is other scripting going on. In this case, the Event that Bruceee mentioned triggers that. So if either the event or the sound is removed, everything works. Likewise, if you give the sound a filename, it also works. Probably WebEngine should also warn you if it fails to generate complete HTML but of course that should never happen. So I think the real bug, in this case, is that WebEngine allows you to create a sound object without a sound file attached. |
