When fixing the position of an object to a desired co-ordinate and then selecting the Lock ( with the Object editor) the object always jumps to 620 475

Hi Andrew, we can't replicate this one - it is working fine on our end. Can anybody else confirm this?

Hi Andy,

We still can't reproduce this one. Are you are setting the position with the object editor then pressing lock then pressing ok?

Does it happen if you use the quick editor instead?

I have found what makes this happen.

Try this... create a text object... position to wherever you want. Lock it on via the lock icon in the panel menu. Right click on the object to bring up the Object Editor > Transformations then unlock it within the editor. Adjust the positioning a few increments to whatever, lock it within the editor , click ok. This makes it jump.

We still can't reproduce this. But you said it is intermittent for you, so that does not mean the bug is not there.

Does it still happen with V199S?

Just out of curiosity, why do you use the object editor to move objects rather than the mouse or the quick editor? Do you prefer it?

Cheers Harpo

At the time of writing I am just downloading WE1.99s so I will let you know if I still find the problem there, but in answer to your question about using the Object Editor for positioning:

In normal everday circumstance I simply use the mouse. However, if I wish for, say a line of text to appear in the same place in some pages then I like to aline them so they are all the same.

That is not say that I do not use
copy/clone/paste if the text happens to be exactly the same.

A typical instance where I use Object Editor for postioning is where I have the heading of a page to be in the same place throughout thereby avoiding such a heading from jumping a fraction on each page transition. Wink

Ok, Thanks for the insight.

By the way, the grid lines and aligment buttons or the snap-to grid might be useful in those cases too.
