.

I spend 2 hours making a menu with mouseover FX

a) layer-1: 1 large rectangle.
b) layer-2: 10 buttons (hide on mouse-over).
c) layer-3: 10 text.
d) layer-4: 10 nvisible rectangles with the links.

Pretty much how you make menu

1) I group the whole thing.
2) Place it somewhere.
3) "Send it to back"

Whooops !!! there goes all the 3 lower laywers
..all thats left is the invisible layer-4.

ADDED:
That layer-4 is still a group...i cant even ungroup it because
the ungroup option is now missing from the rightclick-menu.

2nd EDIT:

I now realize what i see as left-overs:
its not that layer-4
it's the borders/circumvences of all what i selected when i made it into 1 group
lets calledit the lines you see when you drag around an object(s)
but it's empty...the items/objects themselve ar gone.

That's why there's no "ungroup" in the menu

Ofcourse a "Undo" doesn't help (like most of the time whith groups)

I now changed the title of my post to:
" 4 layer-Group loses all contents when ""sent to back"

This cost me over 2 hours. Mad thanks.

I remember similar problems from SS-2.7

About the mentioned left-overs

As properties it now says:

"Properties - obj 424 - Path"

which is something used for making animations
i had nothing to do with that.

One of the annoying things about the grouping buttons is that by default the "Merge a Group into a path object" button is right next to the standard Group button. I have also accidentally turned a group into a path. I suggest you do what I did and use the Toolbar Options window and remove the button from the toolbar (or at least add a few separators around it to make it apparent).

.

I never use(d) that button
i wouldn't even know where it is.

I always (including this time):

1) Drag cursor around the objects.
2) Left-click in that area.
3) select "group objects" from that menu.

There is no "PATH" thing in that menu.

So this wasnt pressing the "some other button"

I have to correct it:

Larry you were right..it must have been the
"turn in to a path" button on the lower toolbar
wich is next to the ""sent to back"" button.

I thought you ment in the menu where you make a group.

Obviously no bug ...my excuses. Cool

Lets keep it as "could be improved" by placing that button somewhere else where it is
not easy to press by accident...cause it effectively destroys everything that gets it applied,
no UNDO or other procedure to revert it once that happened. (as far as i know/tried)

Or alternatively/at least a pop-up saying:
"Do you really want to turn this into a path ?...this action can't be un-done" .

Or/in-addition make it UNDO-able.

Larry...
a) How to add a separator ?
b) How to move ONLY that ""path-button" to the top ? (without moving the other tools)
if i move the whole tools to the top then the same error might occur there again.
