Select an object on your workpage, then do Edit > Clean Components. Assuming there is something to clean (if necessary, delete something first) the object selected will vanish from the workpage.

Except it hasn't really vanished -- the page has not refreshed properly. This can be disconcerting, leading you to think you have deleted the selected object when you haven't.
