Two files have appeared in my Projects folder called MFCDE.tmp and MFCE2.tmp.

They both appear to contain the contents of one of my project files and are the same file length. One is dated 8th April and the other 26th April.

Any idea what they are for and can I delete them? There are no .tmp files in the Projects folder for other active projects.

Cheers,

Ray D

It is usually very safe to delete anything with a .tmp extension.

"MFC" likely means "Microsoft Foundation Class", an application for writing C++ programs. Is SiteSpinner written using that? -- I don't know, and haven't seen files like those in my projects folder.

It's just possible that some other program has written into your default folder at the time. As you seem to have already done, opening the files with a text or hex editor can sometimes reveal the guilty party Smile

That looks like the mirror file that is created when a project is saved. Basically the project is saved to the mirror file and if that is successful, the mirror file is renamed to the project file's name. The reason it is there is so that if you were saving a project, and ran out of disk space for example, the original copy of the project would not be overwritten with a partial file.

You shouldn't normally see it unless SiteSpinner crashed during a save or if you happened to be looking while SiteSpinner is in the middle of a save.

You can delete one if it is left over for some reason. Check to make sure you having all your project files before you do. If the file is in use it won't let you delete it but just to be sure, close all copies of SiteSpinner to be certain the file is not in use.
