Good afternoon.
i have a problem with preview all the project(page by page is fine). The following is the folder of temporary files for preview: C:\Documents and Settings\personal\Impostazioni locali\Temp\SiteSpinner Pro V2\Preview\ I never put my hands in this "preview options" before now. And this is the error message is giving me: There was a problem with the preview file.(123) Error:La sintassi del nome del file, della directory o del volume è incoretta. Page Filename:'mapa_de_sito_es.html' Preview Folder:'C:\Programmi\Virtual Mechanics\SiteSpinner Pro V2\Bin\' |

My knowledge of Spanish (if that is the language)is not good, but I think
"La sintassi del nome del file, della directory o del volume è incoretta" means "The syntax of file, directory or volume name is incorrect" If that is so, I suggest try renaming the 'mapa_de_sito_es' to something different. You might have a strange character in the page name -- perhaps an accented character -- that is confusing the preview. |

To add to that: the error 123 also means incorrect filename so Bruceee is probably correct. (although I would have guess 'Italian'

Good morning.
what you have suggested does not solve the problem (Italian, but Brucee you understood the meaning of it 100%). i Have: 1)renamed the last page, error message still there. 2)canceled that page, error message has moved on the following page on the scroll menù. 3)created a new page , problem is moved on that page, since is the last in the scroll menù. 4)worked with other projects, everything is fine. What's next: trhowing everything, i hope not. My question in the other post was: Why this is the preview path in preview options: C:\Documents and Settings\personal\Impostazioni locali\Temp\SiteSpinner Pro V2\Preview\ and This: C:\Programmi\Virtual Mechanics\SiteSpinner Pro V2\Bin\ is the path showed for preview folder when i get the error message? Thank you both Brucee and harpo. |

This is your normal SiteSpinner preview folder. There is nothing unusual there, but as a test, you could set another folder to see if that makes a difference. This message: Preview Folder:'C:\Programmi\Virtual Mechanics\SiteSpinner Pro V2\Bin\' is more of a problem, since that is the location of the SiteSpinner executable files, and SS should not be using it for preview. If none of that helps, can you email me your .ims project file please? Email address in my public profile. Just the .ims file -- no images needed. |

Good afternoon eveybody.
I sent you the ims file(hopefully is the one you needed). For the error message i agree with you. I did try to create a new folder but nothing happened. Right now i'm already working on the same "project idea" but with a different project. But before i waste more energy & time i was already thinking of uninstall SS and re-install it. Because i was thinking that SS normally in its installing procedure creates its own folders and path and anything else needed for a proper functioning. I'll wait for something to come up from you or any expert in this forum. I'm frustrated. The only thing different i have done in this project is: canceling, creating, renaming and arrange the order of pages (several times) due to included objects; than deleted non following th de-including prcedure, because deleting them with a "normal" procedure they were leaving piece of html code of no use. Thanks a lot. |

Thank you, I received your project.
The problem is the name of your page "estudios_estudio._es" -- it has a strange character in it, a Hexadecimal 1F at the seventeenth position (where it shows the dot in my copy of the name just above). Rename the page to remove that and it will fix your problem. Is that a character you actually entered? The usual advice is to keep your page names simple, using alphanumeric characters and underscores only. Sometimes you can use other characters, but you can't always rely on them working reliably. Your problem does show a bug in SiteSpinner. First of all it complained about the wrong page being in error, Also it possibly shouldn't have allowed you to enter that character in the page name. I will investigate a little more and pass your project on to VM. |

I know at the end it would have been me.
Wrong typing. Copying your idea i had also to change a page name that was starting with a number because it was still giving me that error. But when i changed back to original it was working, so i presume the number won't matter, must have been something else. My problem shows that if we pay more attention to what we are doing we don't get in trouble. Your smart solution indicates that we should not go that far in searching the causes of this kind of problems but go just with simple ideas. What made that problem difficult to find was the different behavior that "preview 1 page only" and "preview multiple pages" buttons. Because the first one was not giving the error on that page when i checked page by page. Anyway glad with my trouble to learn more and giving the chance to all of us not to make same mistake or at least knowing the solution. Great Thank you Brucee. |

I just found out that i did not do the page by page properly because the error on that page was showing also in single page view. Sorry VM. |

Way to go Bruceee! Thanks for sorting that out.
Newer, do you happen to know how you entered the 1F character into the name? Was it as part of an accented character? |

Hi Harpo i wish i knew most of the stuff i'm doing but unfortunately i don't.
The best i can tell you is that when i type in spanish i change settings of keyboards in spanish language so i can have accented letters and since it must have been a typing mistake (and i type it with 4 fingers and half) probably i press some key near the letter where that mistake happen. i wish i could have helped you more. |

Ok, thanks for telling me what you can. We will correct the error messages at least so you will know where the problem is next time.
