Q: I updated to the latest release and now strange things have started to happen.

A: The first thing is to ensure that you followed the correct procedure for updating to the latest release. The latest releases require that you un-install the previous versions first. If you did not, then a number of problems can arise. To correct the problem you will need to un-install all versions of the product from your system. Only then should you re-install the latest release.

This should resolve most issues.

If you find that you are unable to un-install the latest release, this could indicate a problem with the installer. The Microsoft installer can become corrupt in the situations described below. The 'Windows Installer CleanUp Utility' from Microsoft may help to restore it.

>From Microsoft:
-----------------------------------------------------
Although Windows Installer is designed to be very robust, Windows Installer
can become damaged if any of the
following issues occurs:

- Your computer's registry becomes corrupted.

- You or someone else inadvertently changes a registry setting that is used by Windows Installer and that causes a problem.

- The installation of a program that uses Windows Installer (for example, Microsoft Office 2000) is interrupted.

- There are multiple instances of Setup running at the same time, or an instance of Setup is "blocked."

You can use the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility to remove Windows Installer settings from your computer if a problem occurs.
