Hi Tony,

I looked at www.le-duc-gite.com/Mobileindex.php but it appears to have been published in dual layout with Combined mode publish format selected. Is that what you used?

In order to get pages optimized for mobile layout, you need to use 'Single Layout - Mobile' (or 'Dual Layout' with the 'Mobile Only' publish format selected).

Oddly, your page has an XHTML doctype even though the rest is HTML. So it looks like you published it as dual layout- Combined format and added a doctype. Is that correct? If you didn't do that then there is definitely something strange going on.

Try publishing Mobileindex.php as 'Single Layout - Mobile'.

All the links on that page appear to go to Mobileindex.php except one that goes to Mobileindex without ab extension. Is that what you intended?

Re-"...changed the desktop part of the project to dual layout to use the object tab to remove any unnecessary objects and it screwed up the layout on some of the pages."

It really should not be doing that. That is, messing up pages because you switch between dual and single layouts. All objects should remain no matter which layout you are in. The only thing that changes is which ones are visible.

I cannot make that problem happen. If you can tell me what you are doing for one specific example, we can find out what is wrong. It may be that do are doing something in an unusual way that causes a problem we haven't seen or it might even be, though less likely, that you are seeing a feature but misinterpreting it.

Has anyone else here seen problems when switching layouts? If you have and can describe the problem, that would really help us out.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. I will go again with Single Layout - Mobile.

The .ims file is LeDuc.ims, current file on the site. All I did was to change the Layout to Dual Layouts - Desktop + Mobile, then right click the Objects Tab, select 'Hide Desktop Only' objects, then right click Objects Tab select 'Show all Objects' and the objects and images have all changed their positions in Design & Preview.

Hi Harpo,

Did what you said and I finally have a score of 3.68 with 2 fails.

One is Page size limit; which we know about. The other is the size of the images; the specified sizes are smaller than the intrinsic sizes of the images, I can work on that.

Basically I think it's OK, many thanks Harpo for your patience and for sticking with me to sort my problems.

I still have the strange things going on with the main project, let me know what you think I'm doing wrong, or is it a bug?

Tony

Re - All I did was ... and the objects and images have all changed their positions.

Holy smokes I see it now! Ok, we will get to the bottom of that. Thanks.

Re - Page size limit. It says the page text is okay but the images are too big. The picture of the villa is 25KB because it is re-renendered as a bmp. Change it to jpeg. (in the geometry editor) and that should save you 21KB.

Re - image resizing failure. That looks like something that you won't be able to adjust but we may be able to fix on our end.

OK, I was able to adjust the image sizes by changing the pixels in the script, most were only out 1 pixel on the width.

I changed all of the pictures to jpg but the page size is still too big so I ended up with the following scores on the emulator:

Mobileindex.php 5(4.86) 1 fail image sizing
Mobilegites.html 5(4.57 1 fail page size
MobileChambresdhotes.html 5(4.68) 1 fail page size
MobilePlacesofInterest.html 3(2.32) 1 fail page size
Mobilelocation.html 5(4.88) 1 fail page size
Mobiletariff.html 4(3.95) 1 fail page size
MobileContactUs.html 5(4.69) 1 fail page size

Now my nokia mobile has mysteriously stopped accessing the site, so if anybody here has a mobile to check how it looks I would be grateful.

Thanks
Tony

As I mentioned above, that is something we need to look at on our end (i.e. in SSP)

Look like you still have a pretty good score (4.86 out of 5 lat time I looked).

I find the Nokia emulator comes an goes for no obvious reason. Maybe they are limited to a certain number of users at one time.

Harpo,

Yes, I think the score is OK and I was able to check it on a Blackberry today and the site was loading and displaying well.

I was using a Nokia Mobile to test with not the emulator and for some reason I still can't connect to the internet.

Did you manage to look at the reason for the grouping problem that I had? I discovered that it happens on the "Mobile Only" site also.

Yes, we found the grouping problem. As you say it was only in Single-Mobile layouts. We also solved the issue of objects changing position when you use some of the right-click options on the Object tab. It turns outs that if you choose 'Hide Desktop Only Objects' and the objects do not have a mobile counter part, they take on the object list position.

Both of these will be fixed for the next update (but I don't have a date for that yet)

I don't know if it makes a difference to your findings but the grouping problems occured in both Single Mobile & Single Desktop Layouts after I had split the project into two.

In the meantime is there a workaround? I wanted to space the page links up/down on the mobile site and found that 4 out of 7 jumped to the top left of the page when I released the mouse.

Hi Tony,

It could be a different issue. If you have an example project that shows the grouping problem in a desktop layout could you send it it to us.

The only workarounds right now are:

Switch to dual mode, make your grouping changes in the mobile tab and then switch back to single-mobile.

Or, after grouping, just drag the group back from the top left corner and then finish what you were doing to the group.

OK. yes Switching to dual mode works, thank you.

The other option depends on what you are doing, I was spacing the page links up/down and it took 4 out of 7 up into the far left corner of the design page.

The .ims files are current file on the site and are LeDuc.ims & LeDucMobile.ims

Thanks again
Tony
