Good Afternoon - I have a watercolor-ish picture on my site that I'd like to animate to help customers visualize the function of our product (http://www.settlepedal.com).

I need to set a number of things in motion, so I think it'd be easiest to just create a slide-show of jpgs, as long as I could flip through them smoothly (cartoon-fashion). I noticed a Capt. Stevo thread that described a conventional (sequential) slide show. However, our product involves a bouncing crib mattress, so I'd like to be able to show the images in a programmable order. For instance A-B-C-B-A-B-C-A-D-E-F.

In a pinch, I can create multiple pages and INCLUDE the same jpg, but this seems laborious. The site is built and maintained with SiteSpinner, but I've been trying out Web Engine and I'll gladly upgrade if it'll help.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Whichever way you go, you probably don't want to animate the whole image -- only a rectangular section which holds the moving parts. This keeps the file size of the images small -- especially desirable where you have a number of images.

You could use a looping slideshow to set up the animation sequence -- example here. Using an i-frame is also possible. In either case, you can repeat slides within the sequence, without needing duplicate slides.

An animated GIF should also do what you want, and will probably give smoother animation too. Some discussion in these threads.

Bruceee,

Thanks for the ideas. I think an animated GIF might be the way to go. In fact I downloaded a trial version of Ulead's GIF Animator 5 and it seems straightforward and robust. More feedback to come once I dig into it.

Btw, you've created a nice reference website for any SiteSpinner user. It'll definitely stay on my bookmark list.

I did use Ulead's GIF Animator to put up a crude animation awhile back. Its a good program. I downloaded it at 9 PM, and had two GIF files toggling back and forth by 11PM. So by midnight the animation had tumbled to the bottom of my priority list! I'll get back in to clean up the images and add additional frames . . . y'know . . . soon.

Happy Holidays,

Kevin
