Hello,

Linear Perspective presents its share of problems when working with objects close to you; i.e. objects which in two point perspective don't really have vanishing points.

I suspect that in the top diagram -- the start of an imitation of Salavdar Dali's "The Crucifixion 1954" -- I should be using one point perspective. (As it is, I used a much larger screen size to put the vanishing point way to the right.)

The bottom is a rough freehand sketch on how the cross member of the cross should look.

A work in slow progress.

NOT done in Sodipodi. Done in Web Engine of course. (I was just going to mess around then got serious.)

Well, Derry, when you become grammar conscious again your corrections do tend to outnumber the sentneces.

Cheers,

Fell asleep and lost the rest of the post above. Now what did I say? Here is the link again.

You can see from the modification, the bluish end piece, that it appears impossible by using simple two point linear perspective to match what Salvador Dali did. There are several possible reasons:

(a) He used One Point Perspective but shifted the vanishing point for each distinct component.

(b) He used one, two and (possibly) three point perspective with multiple vanishing points.

(c) He didn't use linear perspective.

Anyway, I have learned something valuable from this exercise.

Question of the day: The house a block away is about thirty feet (ten metres) high. How does it "get through" my four foot window?

Cheers,

Muzz
