Sorry if I sound like a total idiot, but I am really 'flying by the seat of my pants' here. I cannot figure out how to make an object blink, flash on and off, or however you would care to call it...in WebEngine. Anyone interested in helping educate me? (I need all the help I can get being self schooled in all of this stuff...)THANK YOU!!!!

The WebEngine UI is being re-worked so this may change but for now, this is what you do:

- Select an object.
- Open the Event Editor.
- In the Trigger Event tab, check 'At Specified Time' and enter 100 (in 1/100th of a sec so = 1 sec.)
- In the End Event tab, check 'At Specified Time' and enter 200.

- In the Action tab, under 'When Trigger Active' check 'Visible'

- Under 'When Not Active' un-check 'Visible'

- Press Ok.

That's it.

This is a good start. I have a graphic blinking. Now, how do I save/take that graphic created on IMS Web Engine and import it into my Site Spinner web page? Do I save the whole Web Engine Project? It only has a little graphic on it.

I worked your instructions and have added the further steps I took to get it to my website under Site Spinner. It's the flashing yellow arrow on http://www.stmarytampa.org/
Here's the 'recipe' your info + mine....

BLINKING GRAPHIC created in IMS WEB ENGINE and imported into SITE SPINNER:

The WebEngine UI is being re-worked so this may change but for now, this is what you do:

- Select an object.
- Open the Event Editor.
- In the Trigger Event tab, check 'At Specified Time' and enter 100 (in 1/100th of a sec so = 1 sec.)
- In the End Event tab, check 'At Specified Time' and enter 200.

- In the Action tab, under 'When Trigger Active' check 'Visible'

- Under 'When Not Active' un-check 'Visible'

- Press Ok.

page editor background color should be the same as in IMS WE as in Site Spinner

-- In IMS WE - save blinking graphic as ims file
-- In IMS WE - publish page as DYNAMIC HTML - publish to PC + publish to website - same directory where SS pages are published
-- In Site Spinner OBJECT/IMPORT FOREIGN OBJECT/HTML I FRAME
-- In Site Spinner POSITION THE GRAPHIC WHERE YOU WANT IT (examle - near text)
-- In Site Spnner save as .ims file, publish to PC + publish to website - same directory where IMS WE page is published

Hi Marleen,

The easiest way would be to open your "SiteSpinner" project in WebEngine and add the graphic directly. They both use .ims files for the projects. But if you open the project later in SiteSpinner and publish, your graphic animation will be lost.

I'm glad it is working for you. Thanks for posting your steps for everyone.

Stock is right that you can load your SiteSpinner page into web engine and add the animation there. It actually should not be lost if you open or publish it back in SiteSpinner afterwards however you will not be able to edit the events or actions from SiteSpinner.

If and when IMS Web Engine gets ready to distribute - will we be able to take a Site Spinner project and open it in IMS WE to add the graphic, save and then reopen in SS? I thought IMS WE would be dropping that capability and would be focusing on creating animations only, not web page development?

I don't know what the final decisions will be but as I understand it, you will be able to do one of the following:

- load a SiteSpinner project into Web Engine and add/edit animation but not add or edit any non-animation objects.

- not load a SiteSpinner project but be able to copy and paste the animation directly from Web Engine into SiteSpinner.

- load a SiteSpinner project and add animation or add/edit any non-animation objects but only if you have SiteSpinner installed.

Hi Folks,
I followed the instructions from Harpo but the object does not blink. Will this work for a regular text box? or must it be a 'title'? I am using webengine v2f(beta) Thank you for your help.

Hello MaryAnn,

The above procedure works for Text as well as Titles. Are you able to get it to work for a Title Object?
