Hi,
Following on from Derry's note previously about wanting to iron out the puzzles before WebEngine is released here's an observation on how as a novice user I'd expect something to work and how it actually works (which causes me puzzlement What you're intending to do - when object 1 is activated make objects 2 & 3 disappear. Create three objects obj1, obj2, obj3. create an event evt2 and make it applicable to both obj2 and obj3 (eg evt2 simply makes the two objects dissapear). Associate a new event evt1 with obj1. Within evt1 go to the actions tab and go to specify Trigger Behaviour when Active ('cause you want it to activate the event that makes obj2 and obj3 disappear). I would expect to be presented with a list comprising of evt1, evt2. Instead I am presented with a list of objects. As obj2 and obj3 shared an event I'd assumed that I could trigger that event and in the process make them both dissapear - but apparently not so - I can only trigger the application of the event to one of the objects. Now , going in to deep though mode Make sense? -Bruce |

eh!?!
Well, it is exactly the necessity for 'deep thought' that we want to minimize. Having said that, the possibilities for creating Interactive Animation are quite sophisticated and as such at times will require a bit of thought. As for your specific example, I think I'll differ to Harpo's better judgment on that - Derry |

It should work that way (one event triggers all objects that use it). There may be exceptions or cases that are not yet be working.
It does for a simple events like Trigger event Keyboard 'A'; Active -> visible;Inactive -> Invisble. Apply that to two objects and they both appear on an 'A' key press. Mail us a sample if you have one that doesn't work that way. |

Hi Harpo,
I'm encouraged by your comment. I've gotta keep reminding myself this is a beta product - a damn good beta product, but a beta product nevertheless! A copy is on its way to you. Thanks Bruce |

Greetings BruceM,
Thanks for the "introductory" lecture on Events. I tried to integrate an action and an event and only succeeded at bringing everything to a complete standstill!! It looks like we have this corner to ourselves. Are you doing DHTML? If so, then we've got it covered. May I offer a very belated welcome to the forum. Cheers, Muzz |

Hi Muzz,
Thanks for the welcome. Yes - I do use DHTML on a need to basis. I've been finding that the events functions work quite reliably, although no doubt as you've likewise experienced, working out what some of the functions do without a manual taxes the brain cells a little, especially if some of the functions are not fully active yet. A good product though. -Bruce |
