Hi,
I'am not familiar with making animations and trying to make one in
webengine v2. So I'am looking for a tutorial.
There is no tutorial for animation in the program. Is there perhaps one on the internet?
Thanks.

oke, I'have posted my Question in the wrong chapter of the site I've found it back now.
Thanks for reply but your suggestions are not very usefull for me. The link to the tutorials which are also in the program really do say noting about animation. The second link leads
to a tutorial how to make code for an animation. That's excactly the reason why I wanted to try webengine. I don't know anything about code/html and so on. So my next question is: Do you know perhaps when a handsome tutorial becomes available. ??

I now see that the tutorials link has empty pages under the subject of animation!

Web Engine is still a beta product .. others have asked recently about progress on Web Engine .. search the forum under "animation" to read the postings.

You do not explain how complicated your animation problem is. Explain ..

You might be pointed to simpler animation techniques.

Or use google

This is a nice animation tutorial .. but based on Macromedia Flash (you can embed Flash animation movies within your Web Engine pages). Turn on the sound when viewing this Flash tutorial .. and read the side comments from participants as the tutorial progresses.

Hi A.B.C.,

The reason that the Tutorial on animation is not complete in Web Engine is because it is still technically in Beta. Over the coming months we plan to alter the user interface to make it more user friendly. If we posted tutorials now they might not apply to the next update.

If there is a specific effect you are trying to accomplish, please ask it here and we will do our best to work it out for you.

Hi Derry and D_L,
The animation problem I have is simple but hard to explain . So I have pointed out my problem with examples on my home-page:

http://home.planet.nl/~noij0115/

I hope you can explain how to work this out with an animation (or on another way). Because the basic concept of animation in webengine are not clear to me.
Thanks, Rob.

Hi Rob,

The problem you have there is because web page pictures are always rectangular. Even if you draw a circle, the image must be square.

The default method for Web Engine and SiteSpinner is to draw anything that appears in the background so that it appears to show through. This is fine unless you are going to want to hide the object underneath (as in your case)

What you need is a transparent image. You can get this by selecting your ellipse and opening the Geometry Editor. Then uncheck 'Render Background' and select either PNG8 or GIF File format.

PNG8 (8bpp PNG) and GIF are currently the only formats that will support transparency across all browsers. Unfortunately, they are limited to 8bpp (that is 8 bits per pixel or 256 colors) That won't be a problem for you example but for photographs or other images that use many colors the results will be a lower color resolution than the original.

When creating 8bpp images, the program analyses your images and chooses the best 256 colors for each one but it still will not be perfect if you have many more colors.

If you uncheck 'Render Background' and use a format that does not support transparency, you will see a the solid background color behind the ellipse.

If you are using SVG mode, then full color PNG mode can also be used with transperency.

Hi Harpo,
What an elegant and simple solution!I felt that my idea with the animation perhaps was too complicated (I need no animation for this purpose at all) but had absolutely no idea of another method. Thanks for help.

this illustrates the need to clarify requirements in postings ..

I misunderstood your quest for "animation" to be "cartoon style" animation .. when in fact you were referring to a much simpler rollover problem .. not animation at all ..

perhaps a dictionary of frequently used terms is needed somewhere.
