Confused
I am using WebEngine V2. So far I haven't had time to do much except I managed to publish a small test site. But I am trying out some of the tools and features, well I try to understand how things work wich is not always easy.
As with the Action Editor. I have been able to make some object move, but in a very unpredictable way.
Sometimes things happen, sometimes the objects are just stuck up in the left corner.

The Linear Paths for instance. In Help it says: "Start: When selected, the Object will start its motion from its current position." I have never been able to make an object start where I place it. If it moves at all it seems to come frome somewhere outside of the page no matter where place it.
It is unclear (to me anyway) in what order things have to be set to make it work.
And what about the "Attach a Key-frame Path" and "Enable Motion Path", what is it, and when are they used? It looks like every time I enable it I get a message asking me if I want to delete the Key-frame information ??
How about a few practical examples for those of us (I assume I'm not the only one :-) who can't immediately understand the help instructions?

I've also failed with the Object Path action, except I managed to get one object to move around it's own outline!
There is also mystery here. In the Help instructions it says:"
Trace Path: When this button is selected, the current Object will trace the Geometry of the Object Path.
Trace Origin: When this button is selected, the current Object will trace the Origin of the Object Path. Fine, but where are those buttons? I can't find them in the Action Editor!

Hi Leif,

The issues you raised are precisely the reason that Web Engine V2 is still in beta - specifically we still have work to do on the interface and usability of the animation features. The Key Frame Editor is due to go through an extensive overhaul before the final release. In the meantime, try this approach to help you get started with animation:

Create an object, say a rectangle
Now create another object - a circle
Click the Action Editor > Paths tab
For Object Path, select Obj1
Click OK and then Preview
Your circle should now be tracing your rectangle.

By playing with the other controls under the Action Editor, you can set the speed, direction, etc of the animation. You could set the rectangle' outline to be invisible, or use a completely different object, such as a line. Next, you could use the 'Behavior Editor' to add interactivity.

Just a few ideas to help you get started. Just keep in mind that as the product matures, things should become a bit easier.

I understand Derry, and it OK with me, no hurry.
I suspect that i won't use much animation anyway on my future website(s). I have a feeling that people might just get annoyed by too much moving and popping up of things.
But it's fun to try, and some of it might be
useful.
