Hello, I have read this - it was written long ago and does not answer my question.
http://virtualmechanics.infopo...=123101094#123101094 Previewing menu on web and in sspro preview window it works fine. But positioned on the page, the drop down segment of the menu does not show up unless I pull down the html holder to the length needed to display the drop down text. Then it works. Problem is, it also covers up every thing else on the page beneath the html holder. This obviously isn't satisfactory as I can't allow that much space of blankness beneath the buttons at the top of the page. I have played with layering. Sub categories will require considerable space to drop down. So, is there a way to give it a special action or a way to layer it that will work so the top buttons show all of the time and the drop down portion and not including the blank area where the html place holder sits, only shows up when the buttons are activated? Thanks if you can offer any help! To Achieve Your Dreams Remember Your ABCs. |

Can you post a link to a page where this menu is used?

Thanks for your reply. I haven't published the site yet sorry - I will see if I can put it in a folder on an existing site and get back with you. Does it need to be the file or would just a screen shot help?

I'd like to see it working, or not working. Being able to view the HTML source allows me to runs tests and possible work out a solution. A screen shot is not dynamic enough to investigate these types of problems.

Thank you, Before I waste your time which I very much appreciate the offer of, I am investigating whether or not this menu is designed to do this in the first place. I just found this answer to a problem and although I am not sure it is referring to the same thing, it seems to be indicating that the menu will require the entire space needed for expansion to be free space.
http://support.xara.com/index....d=2373&nav=0,454,460 This would make any menu built on this platform unacceptable to me. I want to investigate further. Do you know any good menu makers? lol My links will be very complex and the built in menu in sspro will be too difficult for me to work with continually on a site that will experience a lot of change on an ongoing basis for a while after it is published. It looks daunting. I tried to build an easy one and I still didn't get it right. A simple menu program that displays over any item under the expansion is what I need. Maybe I am wrong about this one but I have that feeling... To Achieve Your Dreams Remember Your ABCs. |

I have used both the free CoffeeCup DHTML Menu Maker and also Xara's Webstyle program. Xara's Menu Maker is fairly old, but still works, and is basically the same menu maker built into their Webstyle program.
I have built a test page showing a Webstyle menu which you can view here. As you can see from this test, the menu drops down and covers the page content only when active. If you are using the Xara Menu Maker program, your's should be doing the same thing. If not, something is wrong either with the way you created the menu or the way it is included on the page. If you are including the menu inside an i-frame, then yes, the i-frame must be sized large enough to display the entire menu, which unfortunately, will leave a lot of blank space on your page when the menu is not in use. This is not the menu's fault, it is just the way i-frame work. Likewise, placing your page content inside an i-frame and placing the menu above it will not work either, since an i-frame always have display priority. In this case, your menu would be hidden behind the i-frame. |

Thanks! Perhaps when you build directly in the program it builds in and loads the codes/images automatically - and maybe they've changed something I am not sure but I see those work like I expected mine would.
OK well this is strange and now I am really confused. I just followed every tutorial and reloaded the buttons. I uploaded the button folder to my web site host. But yet this test page doesn't show anything but the place holders whited out. Sooo.. but if the buttons had shown up the place holder white areas would have still shown up beneath them according to what I was seeing in preview. I don't know if this helps but here is the page. The buttons showed up in previews but not here. Thanks again for your offer to help. It is greatly appreciated. http://inspirationmotivation.com/sstest.htm This message has been edited. Your i-frame is loading the MasterMondrian.html page, which in turn is trying to load the xaramenu.js and mastermondrian.js scripts. Unfortunately, those scripts are now located inside the menu folder you uploaded to your site while the HTML page expects to find them in the root directory.
You can use a plain text editor to edit the masterMondrian.html page so the required scripts can be found. The line would look like: <script src="./menu-folder/xaramenu.js"></script><script menumaker src="./menu-folder/mastermondrian.js"></script>changing menu-folder to the actual name of your menu folder. Or you could just upload the contents of your local menu folder to the root directory of your web site. |
