Hi Guys,

I am inventing a new subject: "Web Engine Perspective." Let the artists weep.

The link in the previous post, which I call "vanishing line" perspective, is legitimate. Instead of perspective lines, I create "perspective triangles" with one apex at at a vanishing point. This is done on the largest screen size possible.

Then, somewhere within the 800x600 boundary and towards the centre, I drop two perpendicular lines in each perspective triangle and bounded by the triangle. These become the left and right vanishing lines.

Returning to normal screen size, the object editor is used to move the vanishing lines to the extreme left and right. This is followed by using the vertex editor to fit the perspective triangles to the vanishing lines.

As far as I can tell this is a perfectly valid procedure and solves a major dilemma for me. A Toast to Web Engine folks.

Hello,

The bottom of this evolving cross is distinctly wrong in the sense of what I want to convey. There is definitely a very good reason why it both took so long, and then took men of genius to develop the theory of linear perspective.

It seems (sort of) easy when you can keep your vanishing points on the page. I truly think that I am missing something here. This is going to take some thinking.

Borg'ish. Hmmmh! As in Victor Borge or D_L Borgish? Smile

Cheers,

Muzz

I think once you get the study of perspective nailed down you should move on to 'animated perspective'!

I think what I really have to say on that subject would best be sent by e-mail. But the bare gist is this: Before I start using verbs and constructing even just clauses, I think that a fair degree of mastery over nouns and adjectives is an absolute necessity.

There is enough crud on the Net already without me adding to it unnecessarily. It took me about ten years to become a competent geophysicist; and from having watched the Wunderkind for five years, I know well how much doggone hard work it takes to become a competent graphics designer even when you are loaded with natural talent --- something which I am not.

Animation IS on my agenda; just like imaged SVG fonts is on yours. Smile

When I have something worth animating, you can bet that it shall happen.
