I have been playing with the animation effects within WebEngine. I say playing, because it appears that it is not quite ready for any production work. Is there some definitive guide as to what is supposed to be working in WE and what is still in development?

I don't mind testing the program, but it would be nice to have some sort of documentation as to what these features are supposed to be doing. The current help is dismal.

I have recently placed an animation on one of my pages . It looked ok until I started resizing the browser window. Then the animation screwed up.

This is getting frustrating.

Larry, I see the problem you are having with the animation. When I open the page maximized, the arrow is over the text, however when I resize my window to about 1/4 of it's maximized size, the arrow seems to be where it needs to be (the left of the text) I'm not sure why the animation would move based upon the window resizing. It would also be nice to know from VM as to what these features are to be doing. Great idea, hopefully we can all work on this together!

Larryd/Aaron,

We are working on Web Engine now, and have been for some time. An update was just posted, and there will be more news to follow shortly (keep an eye on the News forum.

Larryd, can you check to see if any of your objects associated with the animation have 'relative positioning' checked. If any does, disable it.

The objects are all using absolute positioning.

Not using iframes, but the page is being shown in a frameset.

I'm not sure if this helps in the diagnosis of the problem, but after refreshing the page several times, I noticed that for a brief second, the arrow is right where it needs to be just after the refresh, then moves to the relative position.

It may have something to do with the relative sizing you have set for the frame window. What happens when you view just the window with the animation, and then resize that one?

Derry,

I have isolated the page as a separate project using no frames/framesets. Still the same. But I did turn off page centering and everything looked okay. I guess the javascript does not take page centering into account?

One other thing. For those of us that use an external FTP program to upload our files, the WE documentation needs to state that the vmhtm25.js file needs to be uploaded in order for WE animations to work. (If it is already in the documentation, I did not find it.)

Send us the .ims project file of just the animation page to vmsupport@virtualmechanics.com and we'll take a look.

Yes, the documentation for Web Engine needs work. We're having it updated.
