Hi Derry

I'm still waiting for the pdf manual. I sent an email request but didn't receive a response. Please advise.

Hi Jim,

There are no support requests outstanding at the present time. If you have not received a response, can you check that you do not have a spam filter that may have blocked it.

Hi Derry

I received the email. Thank you. Is the pdf version the final version? I want to print a manual and read it while traveling the next few weeks. Right off the bat I notice many of the tool icons referenced in this help manual (pgs 28-38) are the older icons and not the current SS Pro tool icons.

In fact, as I go through this, it appears it is hardly more than the old SS manual slightly reformatted. Where is the information on the Pro features like animation and mobile layout?

Does VM have a user manual for SS Pro?

I just wasted a lot of paper, ink, and time.

Jim,

If you had read Derry’s reply to Kirk first, you could have saved yourself all of the waste.

In depth details on the animation features can be found in the Tutorials of SS Pro.

Load the tutorials and click on the “Advanced Topics” link at the top of the page. Don’t use the link at the bottom of the page

Derry, the links to both the Basic and Advanced topics at the bottom of the SS Pro Tutorials home page are linked to “FastStart1.html”

In the Advanced Topics home page, scroll down to near the bottom, and there is a section called “Animation Topics”.

There you will find very helpful tutorials on the Action, Behavior, Key Frame and Sound editors.

Regards,
Terry

Online tutorials do not work for me. I need a printable user manual (just like one that every other program I have ever used offers) that I can take with me when traveling. I was emailed a link to a pdf described as such.

VM: Please produce a user manual for SiteSpinner Pro that, unlike the one you sent me titled and described as Site Spinner Pro User Guide, actually pertains to the new Pro version and its functions. Placing SS Pro on the old SS documentation is confusing, misleading, and not productive.

If I'm not mistaken, the "tutorials" being referred to are those included with the program. The ones you get when you go to Help -> Load Tutorials. So they are with you travel.

Hi starhubs,

The online Help/PDF were created while SSP was still in production, so some of the functions under development did not make it into the documentation, ditto with the graphics. These are currently being added and will be posted as soon as it is available.

The Tutorials, which are included with SSP, are do have the new graphics as well as the animation and mobile functions.

Thank you Derry

I'm sorry if I seemed grumpy. I look forward to the pdf when it is ready. Please post an FYI when it is available, and if possible, place me on the email list. I'm really hoping to print it and take it with me before I leave next week.

Is there a "Read Me" on 2.90b?

Yes, it can be found in the SiteSpinner Pro > bin directory.

Here's the gist of it:

CHANGED: Tutorials changed to single mode layout and other minor changes.

FIXED: When changing pages in page dropdown list, while in preview mode preview is not updated.

FIXED: Popup images close immediately in Google's 'Chrome' Browser.

FIXED: When opening a project from the 'Most Recently Used' menu list, the images may not be automatically found (i.e. require locating manually).

FIXED: W3C html validator attempts to validate closing tags in code to be written by popup script. Since it does not read corresponding opening tags, it fails.

I'm curious why it is that when I update to the latest version I'm asked to re-register. It's no big deal, but since I'm already registered it seems kind of useless.

Hi Kirk,

Which version are you updating 'from'. You should not be asked to re-register from V290a

Derry: this is the "other" registration screen -- not the one you are thinking of. It pops up after each re-installation. I get it too, but as I believe I'm already registered, I just click the "ignore" options and it goes away.

OK. Yes, that dialog will come up. That is by design, as people often change email addresses.

Hi Derry,

Sorry for not getting back to you. Was gone for a few days. Thanks to Brucee for explaining which reg screen I meant. Now that I know it's by design, I won't worry about it, not that I worried much before Smile

I'm curious about notification when a new version of SSPro is released. I notice that we are now on rev. 'd' and am wondering when it was released. Also, what changes were made between 'c' and 'd'?

I'm sure this has been answered someplace, but like I said elsewhere, I'm dealing with a cold and a head full of cotton and am to lazy to go search.

I don't think we get notification for minor updates. Extract from the readme.txt file included with the install package:
SiteSpinner Pro Version 2.90d Release Nov. 16, 2008
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CHANGED:When using 'Mobile Only' publish option output is better tuned to
mobile standards. (e.g. xhtml, image dimensions in place)

CHANGED:Reverted to Opera 9.10 engine because of unresolved problems with
newer versions. In particular a display updating problem.

CHANGED:Password protection now opens page in a new window instead of in
the same window. This is done because some browsers no longer allow
a page to change contents in place for security reasons.

CHANGED:If 'Exclude When Publishing' option 'Always' is set on the 'Master'
page, the setting will not be applied to new pages. This allows the
master page to be excluded from publishing without having to turn
'Always' off on each new page.

CHANGED:Toolbars are no longer reset on re-installs or updates. Hold CTRL
key down during startup to force a reset.

FIXED:	'Exclude When Publishing' options SVG, HTML	and Always (in Page editor's
'Select' tab), do not have any effect.

FIXED:	Deleting a cloned group may cause a crash in certain cases.

FIXED:	Cloned groups that contain text will scale text based on one object
out the of set of clones. (Now each scales according to its parent
		object).

FIXED:	Adding new objects to list mode leaves objects at position 0,0 in
desktop layout. (now places them in a vertical row)

FIXED:	Ungrouping groups in list mode leaves objects at position 0,0 in
		desktop layout.

FIXED:	Embedded preview does not display images changes unless programs
is restarted (see 'Reverted to Opera 9.10' change.)

FIXING	Clicking 'View as List of Objects' in Object tab (right-click), when
already set, leaves nothing set. Same with other view options.

FIXED:	If project opened via the file (e.g. via dbl-click) after update or
repair, the introduction file is loaded, replacing the project file.

FIXED:	If project opened via the file (e.g. via dbl-click), paths for images
saved as relative paths may not be found.

FIXED:	Appending a project with relative file paths to one with absolute
files paths, paths for foreign objects or sounds may in appended
		pages not be correctly resolved.

FIXED:	Changing a project with relative file paths to absolute files paths,
using 'Save As...', saves as absolute but reverts to 'relative' the
		next time project is loaded.

FIXED:	Pressing Preview then Objects tab leaves list with desktop layout.

FIXED:	Potential for crash when closing Preview Options dialog.

FIXED:	<span> tag may be left open in text using decoration if default font
uses another decoration e.g. if text has bold and default has italcs.

FIXED:	Online registration dialog appearing when aleady registered.

FIXED: Password protection: Not redirecting to 'failed' page. Not working
at all in 'Chrome' or 'Safari'. (see CHANGED below)

ADDED:	Purchase menu item on unregistered program.

ADDED:	Page count display to Page editor's 'Select' tab.

Thanks Bruceee. My cold is getting better so I won't be asking any more dumb questions.

Yeah! Right!
