I cannot get the upgrade to install, "The application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect."

During install I get "Module C:\Program files\Virtual Mechanics\Common\IMSExtract.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895"

What Windows version are you using?

I'm using Win XP SP3 (not up to date with the latest patches) and 2.91e installed OK for me over V2.91d.

Hi Bruceee

I'm using 32 bit Vista. I had to uninstall e and reinstall d. I also tried re-downloading and reinstall. Same errors.

Hi Starhubs,

First, you can safely ignore the '...IMSExtact.dll ... failed to register...' warning. It just means the ims thumbnail genrenator (for windows explorer) was busy.

Now, I'm not sure why the error you are seeing would happen. I know that Vista doesn't always remove uninstalled side by side assemblies right away (see here) so it may have something to do with that.

When you say you had to uninstall 2.91e, does that mean it completed installation or was some kind of partial installation?

Did you try uninstalling 2.91d and then installing 2.91e? If not could you try that? Maybe re-boot before after uninstalling but before installing just to to be sure.

Can you also check (in the control panel's installed programs) to see if you have any beta versions of SiteSpinner Pro installed?

Before you start, you should check the digital signature on the download just to be sure it hasn't been damaged. (see How can tell if my installation package is damaged? )

By the way, are you installing from the .exe or the .msi package? If you are using the .exe, try the .msi.(from the SiteSpinner Pro 'Help' menu select 'Check for Updates...'. That will take you to the a page with the .msi link). Be sure to check its digital signature if you get it.

Let me know how you make out and we can go from there.

I tried the .exe and the .msi, but no luck. I cannot upgrade through the program or through the link.

So, I uninstalled d version of SS Pro and re-installed the "e" .exe. This time it worked. The file was not damaged. Not sure what it was, but I have it now. Thank you.

Sounds like uninstalling 2.91d did the trick. I am glad to hear you have it working.

No, your eyesight is fine. I asked for an expandable Export Progress window, and the "Copy to clipboard" button came with that change.
