Opera Software and Virtual Mechanics today partnered to integrate the Opera Web browser into Virtual Mechanics' Web authoring tool, "Web Engine", currently in public beta. Instead of spending hours spawning multiple, different sites to accommodate varying screen sizes and resolutions, anyone from hobbyists to high-end Web designers can create a Web presence that works perfectly regardless of the device used to access it. By incorporating Opera developers have an easy to use, yet powerful tool to create Web content for a variety of devices including PCs, PDAs and mobile phones. > Read More on this > Web Engine FAQs - Derry |

Well done VM!
I have been a bit disparaging about Opera in these forums -- it has has always seemed to me to be the odd man out. I do remember saying something nice about it -- once But if this association helps us to make better web pages, I'm all for it |

Phil - Just Web Engine at this time
Bruceee - well, you better say good things about them now As stated on the Web Engine FAQs, it does not matter what browser you choose to use. At the most basic level this integration will enable you to Preview your pages directly in Web Engine. You will still be able to Preview in your preferred browser however, just as you can now. Beyond that, when you Publish your site, multiple 'styles' will be generated automatically. This will allow your webpages to display correctly on a webbrowser on your desktop, as well as on a mobile device. You will also be able to Preview what your page will look like on a mobile device directly in the Web Engine work-window. As Opera has 80% of the mobile browser market share, you can feel pretty confidant that your site will look good on all devices. - Derry |
