One of SiteSpinner's power users - Klimt (Roma, from Creativement) - has created a new Webmaster's Corner. There is a wealth of information on using SiteSpinner, and creating websites in general. This is a great resource that should help anyone interested in building their website.

Visit the Webmaster's corner here.

Many thanks to Roma for creating a great resource.
Also be sure to check out Larryd's LowTechGeezer's SiteSpinner and Bruce's Sandpit

Well done, Roma! Super stuff!

I don't have time to check out everything but I guess the info will be superb and really appreciated by visitors.

The only thing I would request, from all software producers, is a 'video' of how to start. Just a 'simple website' constructed in SS would be great. I downloaded some software to do exactly that ... but the only aspect not working properly is the 'screen record'!!

Having been involved in training for a good few years, I just know that actually 'seeing' what can be done helps people no end.

My neighbour is currently trying to set up his own website. He won't pay me to do it for him (one week to set up an e-comm site?!) ... he's downloaded SS + a few other test applications. He's completely stuck with all of them!!! No flipping idea!

I've offered (again!) to sort it all out for him ..... or to spend an hour or two (with no cost!) showing him the basics of setting up a site via SS. But he's such an 'I must do-it-myself' guy that he won't accept. Plonker!! Wink

As a trainer (different hat!) I always used to tell people what I was going to train them in; show them; get them to do it whilst watching over them/helping; get them to do it without any help; then go back over it all. By then, most had grasped it. If not, I'd go back a step or two. But the really important thing was always the visual impact.

Please folks, read that again! The VISUAL IMPACT!

A picture paints a thousand words ... perhaps that should read "a pic 'replaces' a thousand words".

Recently, (this w/e) I came across a site that had YouTube videos of all the basics of using their software. Bloody brilliant!!! People can SEE what can be done ... and how to do it.

Come on SS ..... it's just that 'plus-X' that makes all the difference ... or as my first boss used to say, "make yourself 5% better or 5% different to the competition and you will get the lion's share of the business". He was dead right! Please, please PLEASE read that again!

EXCELLENT WORK, Roma!!! There is a wealth of good info there. I am really impressed! The only suggestion I could make is put a link on the spun with Sitespinner logos to a RegNow page to sell visitors a copy where you get a commission. Smile Splendid Job!!!!!!!!

Hi

I second, well third or forth (!) all the comments from everyone above. I know the enormous amount of work that had gone in to making those tremendous pages for all of us and they will definitely be of enormous benefit for those that take the time to read through them all, so I can't urge people enough reading this post to make sure that they do !

How lucky are we on this Forum to have all this huge wealth of Information and help available too us all, this place must truly be one of a kind on the Internet. It's just a shame there are some irritating buggers that keep popping their heads up every now and then Razz

Congratulations on the great work Roma Big Grin

Andy

p.s. Dan if you don't get rid I'm going to shoot that Dam Santa of yours !!

No, not a father yet- July Smile

Been busy though trying to get projects finished before the due date. I just finished a 7 session series through the book of Exodus. It was a three camera shoot and we had around 21 hours worth of footage and about 200 hours worth of editing and production time. I am glad to be finished with it but man it really was a joy to work on as the quality of the message was great. If you are interested, you can view session 7 here: http://www.cccnow.org/video.php

Now I have 2 weddings and some interviews to complete. When our child is born I'll be sure to share the news Smile Thanks for asking, and remembering!

That's the first time I've seen oscommerce ... and unfortunately I was rather disappointed. It could be so much more as a product ... and be presented so much better on the website.

The one question that should perhaps be asked is 'what are visitors looking for' ..... but that seems to have been overlooked in the desire to tell all about it, simply in the way the developers desire.

I was really hoping for something superb ...

No idea why it was raised in this thread ..... (?)

mccifa (perhaps I had too many glasses of plonk with the BBQ! I'll look at it again later, ha ha!)

I couldn't find another suitable place to post my question. Is there another inexpensive/free shopping cart/back end management solution similar to what oscommerce offers for free? i appreciate your help.

Hey all...

Sorry for the late kudos... like any prodigal child, I only come around when I need something.

That said I glanced in here and saw the original post and wanted to say that it is a great resource.

But stop showing folks how easy it is!! LOL... Some of us like getting paid for what we do!

Smile
