What is the deal with Jumpline? I am trying to sign up for the free hosting plan, and have stopped at the point where I have to submit card details for the actual billing. To me it looks like I am going to be billed for this - there is no sign of anything free for registered VM users.
Is this free deal still on or...?
What happened to http://www.virtualmechanics.com/products/jumpline2.html ?

Jumpline is offering free hosting for a year. After which if you decide to continue you will be billed. However, you can cancel at anytime.

Jumpline requires a credit card in order to ensure you are who you say you are (that is, an individual who is a registered user of a Virtual Mechanics product), and not some psycho registering multiple free sites and posting offensive content. Eek

The original link was pulled down because it was not secure. Registered users should contact us via our support form for the new location.

I'm confused on what to do, this was bought for me a few years ago (2 maybe 3)?
I don't know what card numbers were used, nor do i think my dad still has the cards.
Does that make me exempt from the offer?

You should still be eligible (I think!)

Jumpline is probably interested only in a current credit card number, not one dating from your purchase date.

If you are a registered user of a VM product, that is probably enough. If you're not registered, I don't imagine VM support will give you the link for the Jumpline signup.

If you filled out this form, be patient -- there may be only a skeleton staff at VM this week.

Thanks Bruceee, no that's not the form I filled out. I just sent it off though, and hopefully I will get the support I need to sign up with Jumpline.

Thanks

Question for jumpline hosting :::

I am just learning how to make webpages and trying to find a hosting service that is easy to use and maintain,

Is the VDS Technology suitable for beginners ?? Because i don't know anything about Servers or mySQL or database...etc...

If it's not suitable for beginners what hosting service would you suggest ??

Thank you.

Hosts can be simple or complex with differing levels inbetween. I have never used jumpline, but I am sure that as you grow in understanding it can grow with you. You will be able to keep it simple and only utilize the portions of the host that you choose to utilize. That goes with any host. I use ihost for my personal site and I also set up my customers site with them unless they have a host already that they prefer.

What is more, it is free for a year and you can cancel it at anytime (as far as I know) if it is too complex.

I signed up with jumpline last week after buying the software. I've never created a website before but I've been able to get up and running.

It's a little complicated at first and had to make some calls to their support but I'm beginning to get it. If you're a newbie, it's a little tough cause they assume you know more than you might actually do which is probably true of any host. I would say try it.

OK, I just made the "Jump" I purchased both SiteSpinner and signed up for the free year of Jumpline 2.

OK! I have purchased: SS V2.7; JumplineJ2-VDS Web Hosting; and AllWebMenu Pro 4! And I have told GoDaddy.com to move my url over to Jumpline for them to host. I guess I am moving along -- I hope I did everything right. (When you are as old as I am) it is a pretty hard thing for the brain to figure all this stuff out! LOL

I wonder how long it takes for Jumpline to be ready for me to upload my site?? Anyone know?

My next bunch of moves are going to be to try and figure out how to upload my web pages! Wish me luck.

Richard

Is there anyone from jumpline here that can help me out Roll Eyes

I just placed my order inc a domain name. But not sure if Im gonna get it. The form I filled in wasnt letting me put in my full postcode. When I clicked on the modify button to correct my details, it said I needed to enter my province in. But theres no box or anything with province on, so I just clicked on the place order button, but It just stayed on the same page. so I tried going back, I got the page where my details were before, but not there now Frown. so I clicked the place order button and it seemed to go thru. but Im not confident its actually completed, I didnt want to go and put all my bank details again just incase it duplicated.. I havent had a conformation email yet.
