How can I export the files of the website design into my laptop so I can continue development when away from the main computer, and then copy them back later?
I tried publishing to file and copying across but that doesn't work, I lose the .ims file.

Hi Rod,

The easiest way to do that would be to create an image of your directories on your laptop so that it matches your PC.

So, if you are creating your site on your PC:
c\mysite\

Make sure you save your ims file to that same directory.

Then make a copy of that directory on your Laptop, preferably under the c drive.

So to clarify, I'd have to put all images and all resources into that one directory, then re-build the website on the main PC to correct for the new location of these files.
At the moment they are sourced from various folders within the PC, which is the cause of the problem.
Then copy the whole directory across to the laptop and all files are there, along with the correct path links.
Have I got it right?

Yes, that would be the way to go. By moving your ims file to another computer, unless the paths are the same then there is no way for the software to know where the files are referenced from.

One alternative would be to use the 'Gather' option and Publish to a local directory on your home system. This will pull all resources from your system and put them into your Publish directory. You could then open the ims file directly from the Publish directory and reset all the image paths (see: http://virtualmechanics.infopop.cc/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=3636038591&f=3796083534&m=9186010344 ). Once you have done that you would move that directory to your laptop.

Either way should work, but I am not sure which involves the least amount of work.
