Hello ,
I posted a similar question a while ago though, what i needed at that time didn't really required what i'm looking for now. For instance ... I would like to(not necessarily this... )have google's search field and the buttons on my page. What should i do in order for me to put a specific area or part of a website in any desired area of my page ? Thank you ! SORRY ! I posted it in the wrong place. It should be on WebDwarf, SiteSpinner, Web Engine 'How do I...' |

Not sure if I understood your question correctly but in order to have google search box you need to add a code to your page as a code object. If you want to show another website on your page you just add an I-frame using Foreign Object > Format HTML(IFrame) and type in http://www.google.com/ (or whatever page you want there to show) in the Filepath field. Adjust the size of the place holder and place it wherever you want it on your page.

Hi Klimt
To iframe an entire site i would just do what you said though, how to get that specific piece of code to display only a particular area of any given site ? Thanks ! |

I don't know of any sofisticated ways but one way to do it is the following: Let's assume you have page1 and page2. I would place one I-Frame on page1 and choose page2 from Page List. On page2 I would have another I-Frame with e.g. http:/www.google.com/ as Filepath and place that I-frame on that page that the part I want to be seen in the I-Frame on page1 is in the top left corner.

You can specify a bookmark in the link to the i-frame. This is just like a regular bookmark, except that you will also specify the i-frame target. Make this link with the Quick Editor -- I don't think you can do it in the Foreign Object that sets up the i-frame.
This should then have the page in the i-frame scroll to the bookmarked spot. |

Having set up your bookmark anchor, set up the link to the i-frame like this:
Link type: blank Link URL : OtherPage.html#SpecificArea Code : target="geo1345" (the geometry name of your i-frame) |

I've got the same problem trying to open a specific text in webpage that I do not control. So I can't place any bookmarks on the code of that page. So "It", did u make it work?

Bruceee, I did as you suggested for the i-frame bookmark idea to see if I could use it, but when I checked to see if it worked I had to click on the area it should be before it shows up. Is it possible to make it show up without the need to click?
Also, does that make sense, or should I post a link to the problem? Thanks in advance. __________ That guy in the background, quietly taking it all in. |

Sure, an example here.
It looks like a blank page but clicking in the centre actives the link. Nothing else there. This is a a trial site with iHostVM so it's only up for 24 hours. Thanks for looking. __________ That guy in the background, quietly taking it all in. |

Problem 1: You have a space in your bookmark anchor. Change the anchor "hidden charm" to something like "HiddenCharm". (No space)
Problem 2: Bookmarks are case sensitive. In some browsers a bookmark pointing at "#Hidden charm" will not find a target named "hidden charm" as is your case. Problem 3: The way you have formed your link (Quick Editor > Links tab?) requires that you click the iframe to activate the page, and then it displays just as a regular page, not in an i-frame. At least I think that is what is happening! The main problem is Problem 3. Two solutions: If you want the bookmarked section to show on page start, in the Foreign Object Editor for the i-frame, enter page14.html#HiddenCharm as the FilePath If you want the bookmarked section to show on a click of a link, for the link enter: Link type: blank Link URL : page14.html#HiddenCharm Code : target="geo93" |
