Hello,
If I didn't do it now, I never would have gotten to it. (embedded SVG: 800x600 ==> but centers on all screen sizes.) http://members.shaw.ca/rcswebby/krispeha.html There are four pages. I may create a 3D version of the 3D version yet tonight. Cheers, Muzz |

Fifth Page Added. Will do 3D image of it later.
The fancy "text" was created in the the word processor 602Pro Suite and exported as an .html file. He may never see this, but I thank Kris Koppel (aka Wunderkind) for his instructions on how to create the above. Muzz [This message was edited by RC on September 24, 2003 at 10:26 AM.] |

Impressive stuff. Pretty soon you will be doing drawings of people walking up stairs that are connected but always seem to be going up

Thanks Derry. I don't know what's going on with the fancy lettering which should have showed up on the last page as a .png background. It uploads but does not display.
I just acquired a book entitled "Art Fundamentals: Theory and Practice" via a gift certificate. Just wait until you see some three point linear perspective! This isn't exactly an item of major interest to the forum, but I am creating these things as a matter of putting into practice what I learn in my studies so I may as well publish them. I can't look around my apartment any longer without pausing to look at foreshortening, shading, one point perspective etc. There is a famous painting of a rising staircase with the posts going down to the wrong floors and the like which has always intrigued me. Life hasn't been this exciting in a long time Derry. Thank the Dwarf for me. Cheers, Muzz |

Hello All,
The problem with the final page has now been solved. The titles, once again, were actually created as a .htm file in the word processor 602Pro Suite. The beginning: (embeddded SVG:800x600 but centered on all screen sizes) http://members.shaw.ca/rcswebby/krispeha.html Last page: http://members.shaw.ca/rcswebby/krispehe.html The Adobe SVG plugin (a simple download for IE) can be found at http://members.shaw.ca/rrsknox/khportal.html Cheers, Muzz |

Hi Muzz,
Looks good. Don't think that is unique to SVG though. - Derry |

Hi Derry,
I would be very interested in whom you specifically had in mind??? But in general, I have never assumed that SVG, especially at this stage of its development, was THE tool to use for optimum Web-Site design. It's appeal to me stemmed from two sources: (a) It is a W3C standard though that organization by no means possesses the type of broad representation and independence in its decision process that it used to have. (b) Up until the time of the development of Maxwell's equations for electro-magnetic theory, all of advanced physics was based on scalar and vector fields -- or reducible to such. Thus, being reasonably comfortable with this theory, I find myself, for instance, scanning my apartment and perceiving it in terms of scalable vectors making the tool a highly "visual" one for me. AndyP asked me at one point something to the effect of "where did I get my ideas for themes from." Part of the answer is contained in the above, but there is, I believe, a deeper source. I grew up with books and I am not exaggerating when I say that there are close to 2,000 books in my library, fiction and non-fiction. Now I am certainly not going to delve into the problem of universals, the theory of concept-formation, other than to note that "words" are but symbols for concepts, given identity by definitions in terms of genus and differentia. And what this all means in the end is that even very high level abstract concepts are ultimately based on perceptual data. So, when you read and -- if and only if -- you understand the proper meaning of the words used, then you are constantly engaged in an active process of visualization which means translating perceptual symbols back into visual reality and thus vectors and scalars. AND, what I think this all means is that I am more visually oriented in my thinking than people who read little but watch much television -- as paradoxical as that may sound. Just in case you really wanted to know! (My perspective site is all messed up. I am going to have to switch it to a different account on the server.) Cheers, Cheers, Muzz |

Hi Derry,
However, having said all that, I have been reflecting a bit on my earlier pronouncement to make SVG a more or less private affair plus or minus the odd item. And, even though I probably have some relatively rare personal resources, given the rate at which I am chewing up space on Shaw; and given the general availability of Internet resources on linear perspective; and given the generally low level of interest in my recent offerings as measured by replies --- ...it is indeed time to take a break from SVG dissertations, not to mention personal ones. Not quite a sabbatical from the forum (I couldn't stand that), but definitely putting less focus here and more elsewhere for which there is a definite need. All the best, Cheers, RC aka Muzz |

Hi Muzz,
I simply meant in my post that your exploration of perspective was not limited to SVG. - Derry |

Hi Derry,
You are thus guilty of equivocation. I did take it the wrong way -- thought that I was being smacked one for picking on HTML!! I have to admit, though, that I am absolutely baffled as to why more members aren't working in SVG. I suspect the realization hasn't sunk in yet just how much you can do with it; and just how easy it is to work with. Anyway, I wasn't ticked off or anything. Cheers, Muzz |
