This is a new problem for me. Whenever I work on a project in SS it drops a browser shortcut to every page in the project on my desktop. I have to clean these up when I finish. Is there a setting somewhere I can change?

I do not know of any setting in SS that would do this. What version are you using?
What browser are you using. This sounds like something it would be doing. |

I am using SS 2.70 f and my default browser is Google Chrome. Both factors are unchanged for many months.
What is new? 1: I have recently moved everything to a new computer, and 2: I have very recently built and published a second website for a friend. |

I have discovered that the issue is in publishing. If I publish one page - only that page is sent to desktop as a shortcut. If I publish all pages ... I get 'em all appearing.
Your question re browser got me thinking Larry. I have not had the problem for very long (only since I built the second site) but I went and changed the default to IE, rebooted and tried again. Unfortunately the prob persists. I will go thru the exercise again using Firefox and let you know the results. |

OK, that made no difference.
I am now going to have to try something more radical. As I mentioned, the problem started when I built and published the second site for a friend. That friend has since bought SS Pro and we have been working together as he learns how to use it. I think he is now at the point where I can hand over total control and remove his project from my computer. I will try that first. If the desktop shortcuts keep appearing when I work on my primary site (which has 80+/- pages), I will uninstall SS then reinstall. Again, I will post here with the results. Check to see if you are publishing to Files on Disk instead of Web Host and if the Local Publish Directory (Page tab) is set to Desktop. |

Aha! That's it Larry. Many thanks.
