I have added some DivX encoded video to my site (which is being hosted by Stage6) a sort of Google Video or Youtube type place but their compression is 100's of times better than either of the two named above. You can even post High Definition Video to their site and it will stream (for those who don't know, this is pretty amazing). Anyways, I have them up but I am having a problem with the ceremony in Divx format. It is causing some sort of runtime error in IE7. The other Divx vid's play fine and all play fine in Firefox. I just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on how to get around this for IE7 and the cause of the problem. Again, I am not hosting the videos, just linking to them and playing them in a divx player from my site. You will need a divx web player to watch the videos, but if you don't have it, it is worth it IMO.

It is under "Complete Wedding Video" on the main page.

Hi j razz,
I downloaded the DivX player, but when I tried to view the videos on your site, for some reason, it was very slow. It took about 3mins to buffer 2%. The quality of what I did manage to see was extremely good, I have to agree.
I am on a fast (broadband 2) connection, so I don't know why there should be a problem.
Have any other users experienced this? If not, then maybe I am doing something wrong. Any ideas?

I've had no other complaints and I just went to the site to give it a whirl and it said, "connecting/buffering 0%" and within less than a second 100% and then it played. I do not believe it to be that I have them locally on my machine, as stage6 hosts the video and the speeds are dependant upon their servers. They may have been doing an update at the time. I have viewed some vids on their site and sometimes they are slow but that is few and far between.

Anyone else care to test this? Also, I am still having the initial problem if anyone cares to take a gander.

Maybe I need to reinstall the player, as I noticed when trying it again, that it goes from 0 to 100% in less than a second, as you say, but then it starts to buffer again from 0, and is very slow.
I will give it another whirl, and hopefully will be able to see if I have the same IE7 prob.

Hmm. After I typed my response to you, I went to stage 6 and looked at some music videos. I had one in particular that was extremely slow out of about 3 that I watched.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Tried a couiple more times with mixed results. Sometimes the buffering is faster than others, although I noticed it was always faster in Firefox than IE7. Maybe stage 6 servers don't like Australia for some reason Confused

That couldn't be it Smile

Concerning the IE and Firefox issue, I believe it used to be that stage6 only worked with firefox- no ie support.

Bailey, have you gone to their site and tried to watch one of the videos there? If so, do you get the same, better or worse results?

I will give that a try and get back to you

Could you post a link to the site please.
I went to Stage6, clicked on Music, and was presented with a selection of, um, how shall I say, very 'artistic' videos by a young oriental looking lady Red Face

I hate to say it, but that is probably it. My videos are in the romance section. I put them there before checking it out. Not the best placement- wedding videos and um 'artistic' oriental lady's.

If you go to just the main page, http://stage6.divx.com/ and click on one of those, that should do it.

Looks like I had the right site then.
Still getting mixed results. Some fast, some slow, some saying 'download error'
Maybe I caught them on a bad day.
Will try again in a couple of days.

Thanks for trying. Sorry for the site. I think stage6 has a lot of potential (and you retain all the rights to your videos unlike google or youtube). I just wish it had better content on it now. Maybe you Bailey can add some of your piano playing to it and others can add their videos and change the face of stage6 Smile

Yes, it could be a worthwhile site, if they maybe split it into serious users, and kept publicity seekers and posers in a different area.
The need to retain your rights is important, and anyone can download and save Youtube and Google videos, using a free utility.
I hope you find a solution to the IE7 problem soon Smile
